The healers continued working in silence after the pup was carried out. They delivered the placenta, checked carefully for any bleeding, and stitched the incision one layer at a time.
"Her vitals are stable," the chief healer said after another glance at the monitor. "The surgery was successful."
A quiet sigh of relief swept through the chamber.
Brandon closed his eyes for a moment as relief washed over him.
"You did it, Moonheart," he whispered, even though she couldn't hear him. "You were incredible."
Once the healers were satisfied that Emma was stable, they carefully transferred her onto a recovery bed and wheeled her into a private recovery chamber.
The next few hours passed slowly.
