Chapter 183 - Chapter 183: Masters of Chip Damage

The sight left the entire group of chip-damage specialists dumbfounded.

They could not even break through its defenses. How were they supposed to fight this thing?

BZZZT!

Fenrir opened its enormous jaws and unleashed a deafening roar. Piercing sound waves and violent vibrations spread in every direction.

The atmosphere churned, forming a terrifying invisible shock wave that sent those closest to it flying dozens of meters away.

Koneko and Kuroka immediately used senjutsu to generate a counterforce behind everyone, preventing them from crashing into the walls or trees.

"Bikou, let's go!"

Seeing that the girls' attacks had accomplished absolutely nothing, Vali shouted and shot forward.

As he flew, he completed his transformation. Pure-white armor flowed over his entire body like a surging tide, and the azure light wings on his back beat fiercely, turning him into a white meteor.

Fenrir noticed the approaching intruder. Small bursts of flame erupted from its nostrils, shooting out like a barrage of bullets.

Vali dragged an irregular trail of light through the air, skillfully dodging each attack while rapidly closing the distance.

Bikou gritted his teeth and charged in as well. The Flying Nimbus beneath his feet was barely any slower than Vali.

After avoiding dozens of fireballs in succession, he leaped from the cloud and nimbly landed on Fenrir's back.

He gripped a golden staff with both hands, raised it high above his head, and brought it down with all his strength against the muscles along the wolf's waist.

However, when the Ruyi Jingu Bang struck Fenrir's hide, the collision produced a piercing metallic clang.

The rebounding force numbed Bikou's hands.

"You've got to be kidding me. How is it this hard?"

Bikou found it unbelievable.

The Ruyi Jingu Bang was a divine artifact he had inherited from the First-Generation Sun Wukong.

Against ordinary monsters and demons, one swing would leave pieces scattered everywhere. Even stronger opponents could not withstand it for long.

Although Bikou was not as powerful as the First-Generation Sun Wukong, he was by no means weak. Otherwise, Vali would never have chosen him as a companion to fight beside.

Yet Fenrir's strength had completely surpassed his understanding.

This battle was impossible.

"Get out of there, Bikou!"

Vali's voice rang out from above.

Although Bikou had likewise failed to pierce Fenrir's defenses, his blow had carried considerable force and hurt enough to irritate it. Fenrir therefore stopped treating Vali as its primary target.

Taking advantage of that opening, Vali gathered his demonic power and created an enormous magic circle in one breath.

Bikou hurriedly escaped on his Flying Nimbus.

Less than a second after he got clear, countless bands of light erupted from the magic circle above Vali and slammed directly into Fenrir's head.

BOOM!

Smoke and dust billowed into the air as flames illuminated the night sky.

The sheer amount of demonic power Vali had released surpassed the combined output of Rias, Sona, and all their peerage members.

The girls stared in astonishment.

Vali did not look much older than they were, yet he possessed power on such a massive scale.

Was this the strength of a descendant of Lucifer?

Before Vali could relax, Albion's warning suddenly rang out.

"Dodge, Vali!"

BZZZT!

A cold flash tore through the smoke.

Thanks to Albion's warning, Vali had been prepared.

Even so, a huge charred gash was carved across the armor on his chest.

Had he reacted even a second later, Rod would have been attending his funeral banquet.

"Damn it!"

Vali cursed under his breath.

He was normally quite well-mannered, but against an opponent like Fenrir, he had no attention to spare for maintaining his composure.

At the same time, Bikou charged in again.

"Grow! Grow! Grow!"

The Ruyi Jingu Bang instantly expanded at astonishing speed, growing both thicker and longer.

But after his earlier failure, Bikou was no longer trying to attack Fenrir directly.

Instead, he thrust the staff deep into the concrete road along Fenrir's path, placing it directly in front of the wolf's legs.

Even with Fenrir's tremendous strength, the Ruyi Jingu Bang tripped it, sending the giant wolf crashing to the ground amid an explosion of shattered stone and dust.

But before Bikou could celebrate, Fenrir moved again.

It aimed its jaws at the ground and breathed fire directly onto the ground.

The unimaginably hot flames spread outward like molten lava, causing the entire ground to quake.

Bikou's face turned green at the sight.

Without a second thought, he jumped onto his Flying Nimbus and fled into the sky.

The others also used their respective abilities to take to the air.

If even the smallest trace of Fenrir's flames touched them, they would likely be burned until not even their bones remained.

Rossweisse watched anxiously.

She desperately wanted to help, but she had to remain where she was to maintain the stability of the barrier.

Odin could not act either.

Loki's target was Odin himself. If Odin were defeated while fighting Fenrir, or even merely injured, Loki would have achieved his objective.

There were already factions within Norse mythology that opposed Odin's rule.

If they learned he had been wounded, they would almost certainly seize the opportunity to rise in rebellion throughout the Nine Realms, bringing Ragnarök ahead of schedule.

Therefore, unless absolutely necessary, Odin could not make a move.

At that thought, Rossweisse glanced toward Rod, who was still standing calmly in place.

She did not know why, but seeing him remain so composed gave her a strange sense of reassurance.

His suggestion at the beginning of the battle still made her somewhat uneasy, however.

She was afraid Rod might genuinely betray them at the critical moment and hand Odin over to Loki.

If they were attacked from both sides, Norse mythology would truly be finished.

Still... he probably would not do that.

After all, he was the man who had once declared that "every woman possesses her own unique charm."

Meanwhile, the battle at the center of the area had grown increasingly dire.

Vali flew high into the sky. Facing Fenrir as it stepped upon the air and charged toward him, he activated the power of the Divine Dividing.

"Divide! Divide! Divide! Divide! Divide! Divide!"

Mechanical voices rang out one after another as the flames fired at him repeatedly diminished.

By the time the fire reached him, its power was barely greater than that of an ordinary torch.

Vali could completely ignore an attack of that level.

However, when he attempted to use the same ability on Fenrir itself, he discovered that it had no effect whatsoever.

Vali frowned deeply and transformed into a streak of light, narrowly avoiding Fenrir's snapping jaws.

After landing, Fenrir raised its head and roared toward the sky.

Vali, Rias, Xenovia, and the others all wore grave expressions.

Fenrir's terrifying strength filled them with despair.

Forget blocking its attacks. Even if it simply stood still and allowed them to attack freely, they probably could not strip it bald after several hours of continuous assault.

Even Vali, the strongest among them, could do nothing.

How were they supposed to win?

Fenrir gave them no time to come up with an answer.

Loki's command was to kill Odin.

After sensing Odin's position, flames once again gathered within its mouth and nostrils.

Just as Fenrir prepared to aim at the building and unleash flames capable of melting everything in their path, a bone-chilling wind suddenly swept across the battlefield.

Within moments, the ground that had been scorched by fire was covered beneath a thick layer of frost.
