Chapter 122 - The Return of Electabuzz

How many Pokémon are stronger than Suicune?

Whether judging from the anime, the movies, the games, or even the official lore, it isn't hard to see that there are many Legendary Pokémon stronger than Suicune.

In fact, among all Legendary Pokémon, Suicune's strength actually ranks toward the lower end.

Chen Mo hesitated for a moment, but ultimately chose not to directly answer that question from the chat.

First, after his private briefings, Professor Zhou and the others already had some understanding of the more dangerous Legendary Pokémon. Explaining those terrifying beings to the public right now wouldn't bring much benefit—if anything, it might only increase fear toward Pokémon.

Second, Chen Mo personally liked Suicune very much. The Legendary Pokémon had just left, and they had even built a small friendship. Talking about how many Legendaries were stronger than it in front of so many viewers felt… a little awkward.

So Chen Mo gave a vague answer and quickly changed the subject, finishing the story.

"The power to bring the dead back to life exceeded the understanding of the people of Ecruteak at the time."

"They feared this power that could manipulate life itself."

"As a result, some people in Ecruteak began attacking Suicune, Entei, and Raikou, trying to suppress them through violence."

"Over hundreds of years, many things had quietly changed."

"This was no longer the same era as before."

"Under pressure from the people, Suicune, Entei, and Raikou chose to leave Ecruteak."

"And Ho-Oh, deeply disappointed by the situation, also departed and never returned again."

The story came to an end.

The viewers listening to it felt complicated emotions.

[If the ancestors of Ecruteak knew their descendants drove Ho-Oh away, they'd probably climb out of their graves in anger.]

[So tragic… If that last incident hadn't happened, even after Lugia left, Ecruteak would still have been protected by Ho-Oh and the three Legendary Beasts. Four Legendary Pokémon! What a loss.]

[Just human ugliness, honestly. The fact that humans and those legends lived peacefully for centuries before conflict even happened is already amazing.]

[Maybe humans coveted their power—that's why the lightning and fire happened.]

[Conspiracy theories aside… it's still really sad.]

[I don't know if the later generations of Ecruteak regretted it, but just imagining it now already makes me regret it. My Suicune!]

Chen Mo quietly watched the audience reactions.

The real reason he spent so long telling this story was simple:

He wanted people to reflect.

Judging from the chat, that goal seemed to have been achieved.

In the distance, the ancient Pokémon that had finished eating began returning one after another to the underground cavern where they lived.

Their leader, Aerodactyl, lay atop a large rock near the crater, gazing into the distant forest under the night sky.

The ancient sky tyrant from millions of years ago now wore a strangely complex expression.

Chen Mo watched quietly.

Perhaps Aerodactyl simply believed that after one long sleep, the world had changed drastically.

What it didn't realize was—

This world was no longer the one it had once lived in.

After a brief sigh of emotion, Chen Mo stood up and brushed the dust from his clothes.

Earlier, at Aerodactyl's command, the Kabuto had delivered several more batches of berries—along with a few flopping Magikarp.

Definitely carnivorous Pokémon…

However, since Chen Mo already had a Magikarp back home, even his Pidgeotto had stopped hunting them.

So after thanking the ancient Pokémon for their kindness, Chen Mo only accepted the berries.

After the battle, Pikachu and the others did need some replenishment.

Now the berries were gone, the story had ended, and Chen Mo thought about Ah Hui and Yi-ge, who were still waiting back at camp.

"Time to head back…"

At the word back, Pidgeotto immediately stepped forward.

"Pidge!"

Even though Absol had already left with Suicune, Pidgeotto still seemed bothered that Absol had stolen its usual transport job earlier.

"Alright, alright. Your turn."

Chen Mo gently rubbed Pidgeotto's fluffy head.

Aerodactyl glanced over.

Because of Suicune, it had paid a bit more attention to this human and his Pokémon—but that didn't mean it liked them.

Now that the noisy human and the large but seemingly useless bird Pokémon were about to leave, Aerodactyl felt extremely relieved.

Finally… some peace and quiet.

It lifted its head slightly and looked up at the starry sky, a trace of melancholy crossing its face.

Just then—

A voice interrupted its nostalgic thoughts.

"Bzzt!"

Turning its head, it saw a small yellow Electric-type Pokémon blocking Chen Mo's path.

Aerodactyl immediately became annoyed.

I'm trying to get that noisy human to leave—and you suddenly show up to stop him?

Aerodactyl stood up from the rock.

A powerful aura instantly spread outward, pressing down toward Electabuzz's direction.

At the same time, ancient Pokémon sensing the pressure began peeking out from the cavern.

"Bzzt!"

When Electabuzz had awakened earlier, Aerodactyl had already been knocked down by Hydreigon, so it didn't recognize it.

But even so, the overwhelming pressure alone told Electabuzz that this was a terrifyingly powerful Pokémon.

Just as Electabuzz hesitated—

A figure stepped in front of it, blocking Aerodactyl's gaze.

A calm voice sounded.

"Aerodactyl, please calm down. This Pokémon is my friend."

"Graaah?"

Aerodactyl glanced at Chen Mo, then at Electabuzz behind him.

With a snort, it turned its head away.

It had decided it wouldn't bother with this noisy, annoying human any longer.

Flapping its wings, Aerodactyl returned straight into the underground cavern.

Seeing that, Chen Mo let out a slow breath.

"Electabuzz… you finally showed up."

Turning around, Chen Mo saw Electabuzz standing about ten meters away.

From that distance, Electabuzz's electricity could easily hit him.

But Chen Mo wasn't worried.

First, Pikachu was right beside him.

Second, Electabuzz didn't seem to be here to fight.

Chen Mo noticed something.

Electabuzz was holding a stone with both hands.

Yet its gaze wasn't on Chen Mo at all.

It was fixed squarely on Pikachu at Chen Mo's feet. ⚡
