Chapter 109 - Absol’s Request

Chen Mo had only just fallen asleep after tossing and turning in the tent when a chorus of cries from outside jolted him awake.

He quickly shook Pichu awake beside him, threw on his clothes, and rushed out.

What he saw next wiped away any remaining drowsiness.

In the woods around the campsite, Pokémon were fleeing frantically, as if some unspeakable horror were chasing them from behind.

Soon, the others at the camp woke up as well. Brother Yi even came running over with the camera on his shoulder.

Viewers who had just received yet another late-night stream notification were initially confused—but upon seeing the scene through the lens, shock quickly flooded the chat.

"Brother Mo…"

"Let's find a higher vantage point first."

Without wasting time, the three followed Ah Hui—who was familiar with the terrain—to a nearby rise.

From the open high ground, Chen Mo finally got a clear look at the figure floating in the night sky thousands of meters away.

Wave after wave of Dragon Pulse burst forth as if it required no energy at all. Towering trees weren't just shattered by direct hits—even the shockwaves alone were enough to topple them, raising clouds of smoke from the ground.

"So it's really you… Hydreigon…"

Chen Mo stared at the berserk silhouette, a headache forming.

Meanwhile, the viewers were stunned by Hydreigon's terrifying destructive power.

[When Xiao You's Banette went berserk, I was already shocked by Pokémon strength. But compared to Hydreigon… I feel like Banette wouldn't even last a single round.]

[Now I finally understand what Mo-baby meant by "the strongest class of Pokémon beneath the Legendaries."]

[This is insane. If humans ever went to war with something like Hydreigon, what level of weapon would we even need to defeat it?]

[No idea why it's gone mad, but this definitely isn't a place to linger. So many Pokémon are fleeing—Mo-baby, you guys should run too!]

The comments weren't wrong. A rampaging dragon like this was far beyond what Chen Mo could handle.

Just as he was about to tell Ah Hui and Brother Yi to leave—

he turned around—

and froze.

A white figure stood four or five meters away, ruby-like eyes fixed intently on him.

"Absol…"

At the same time—

Beneath the massive crater blasted open by Hydreigon, a figure staggered to his feet from among the rubble.

"My… head…"

The man clutched his skull.

During the fall, he must have been struck by debris. His body was riddled with injuries, and a deep gash split his forehead, blood streaming down his face.

Badly hurt—but alive.

Moonlight spilled into the pit, giving the middle-aged man a strange sense of surviving a catastrophe.

He glanced around.

Beyond the moonlit area, darkness swallowed everything—but the space felt vast, like an underground cavern.

The crater Hydreigon had torn open lay at the cavern's edge. Fallen stones had piled up along the walls, forming a crude path back to the surface.

"I… have to get out of here…"

Picking up his hunting rifle, he began climbing toward the moonlit opening.

Then—

From the darkness behind him came a hysterical scream, accompanied by a bone-chilling sound of chewing.

Cold sweat erupted down his back.

He recognized that fading scream—it belonged to one of his men.

He couldn't stay here!

Ignoring the pain wracking his body, he scrambled desperately up the rubble slope.

In the deathly silent cavern, bloodshot eyes opened one by one in the dark.

A low growl echoed—

and those eyes instantly filled with fear.

————

"At most, I'll go alone. You two stay here. If something happens, don't worry about me—head somewhere safer."

Back at the campsite, Chen Mo packed tools into his backpack while speaking to Ah Hui and Brother Yi.

"Brother Mo…"

"Hmm?"

"Even if it's Absol's request… that place is really dangerous right now. I think—"

"No need to say more. This is my choice."

Chen Mo slung the fully packed bag over his shoulder and looked at the anxious Ah Hui and the silent Brother Yi, offering a faint smile.

"Don't worry. I'm not going to fight Hydreigon. I'm just going to see the place Absol wants to take me. If I can help a little along the way, even better."

He took a deep breath.

Then turned to the Pokémon waiting behind him.

"Pichu, Pidgeotto, Haunter—I'll be counting on you again."

At his words, Pichu bounced over, climbed onto his shoulder, and nuzzled his cheek affectionately.

Haunter let out a mischievous "Ko-jie!" before sinking into Chen Mo's shadow.

Pidgeotto's eyes were sharp and focused, clearly ready for battle at any moment.

Thank you.

Chen Mo silently thanked the Pokémon who always stayed by his side, indulging even his reckless decisions.

Just as he was about to mount Pidgeotto's back, Absol suddenly called out.

"Absol!"

Chen Mo was momentarily stunned—and Pidgeotto bristled, issuing a warning cry toward Absol.

"Pidge!"

Chen Mo chuckled and stroked Pidgeotto's back reassuringly before turning to the white Pokémon.

"Absol, you really want me to ride on your back?"

"Absol."

After thinking for a moment, Chen Mo turned to Pidgeotto.

"Pidgeotto, if I ride you, it'll affect your flight. Since Absol insists, I'll go with it. You monitor from the air—keep your distance, stay out of Hydreigon's sight. Don't let it spot you."

"Pidge…"

Reluctant but obedient, Pidgeotto glanced at Absol, then spread its wings. A gust of wind swept up as it soared into the sky.

Chen Mo swung himself onto Absol's back, then glanced at Ah Hui and Brother Yi, his tone unconsciously growing solemn.

"I'm heading out."
