The report smelled of cheap ink and industrial solvent, exactly the sort of mass-produced document the Ministry of Whispers had once dismissed as beneath its notice. Sera Myrvalis spread it flat across the heavy iron desk.
EASTERN GRID LOGISTICS SUMMARY — Q4 1000 AFTotal Production Loss (Estimated): 4.12 Million Labor Units.Net Faith Point Deficit: 11.4 Million/Day.Status: Cauterized.
Cauterized. That was the official term the Grand Ordinator's office had selected for the systematic extermination of fifteen percent of the Sovereign Imperium's population. It sounded clean. Medical. A surgical necessity.
Sera tapped a single black claw against the iron desk. Once.
There was nothing clean about what had happened in Sector Four. The slaughter had been mechanical, absolute, and thoroughly documented. She knew this because she possessed the only unredacted copies of the Legion deployment orders, secured in a vault three floors beneath the lowest official level of the Black Cells.
