- Two days later -
Minato Namikaze (Yin/Yang Boost)
* The Unique Upgrade: Space-Time Synaptic Reflex and Spatial Awareness.
* The Effect: The serum supercharged his nervous system and brain. This doesn't affect his day-to-day life, but when his adrenaline spikes or he enters combat, his perception of time slows, giving him perfect clarity in the heat of battle. He has also gained a passive talent for sensing spatial fluctuations. He can instantly feel any disturbances in the fabric of space around him, making it impossible for anyone using space-time techniques to catch him off guard.
(Sort of like the Sharingan)
Karin Uzumaki (Massive Yin Boost)
* The Unique Upgrade: Autonomous Sensory Overload and Advanced Cellular Reconstruction.
* The Effect: The serum locked onto her natural sensor capabilities, boosting her Yin energy to an elite level. Her Mind's Eye of the Kagura technique has evolved into a permanent, passive radar that works even while she sleeps. Her healing ability is now fully optimized; her body no longer loses her own life force when a patient draws from her chakra. Additionally, the enhanced cellular reconstruction permanently removes all old bite marks from her skin, ensuring that any future bites leave no lasting scars.
Kushina Uzumaki (Massive Yang Boost)
* The Unique Upgrade: Adamantine Vitality and Preying Sealing Matrix.
* The Effect: The serum permanently reinforced her cellular walls and supercharged her physical stamina. While her Adamantine Sealing Chains naturally bind and nullify an opponent's energy, the Yang boost has evolved them into a devouring weapon. Her chains now actively siphon and drain the target's chakra upon physical contact, feeding the stolen energy directly into Kushina to replenish her own reserves. Her natural healing rate now mirrors passive, rapid cell regeneration.
(Essentially an Uzumaki Sage Body)
Tenzo (Massive Yang Boost)
* The Unique Upgrade: Hashirama Cell Perfect Stabilization and Sage Body Awakening.
* The Effect: The serum directly targeted and perfectly stabilized the Hashirama cells within his body, permanently merging them with his own DNA. This triggered the awakening of a true Sage Body, just like the one Hashirama Senju possessed. His chakra capacity exploded, and his physical form became far more robust, durable, and vital. His Wood Release is no longer a diluted imitation; his constructs are now just as dense, massive, and naturally alive as Hashirama's were in his younger years.
(This doesn't mean he woke up on Hashirama's level; it just means he has the same baseline now. He can become that great, or even better, but it depends on him)
Waking from their serum injections just minutes apart, Minato, Kushina, and Karin immediately felt the profound changes in their bodies as they stood under Sakura's watchful gaze. Down the hall, isolated in his own secure room, Tenzo sat up in bed under Shizune's careful supervision, a massive, vibrant weight settling into his muscles. The serum had completely reconstructed their chakra pathways, pushing their bodies through a grueling forty-two-hour fever before breaking.
Inside the main ward, Karin stared down at her arms, tears welling in her eyes. The rough, jagged bite marks that had marred her skin since her time in Kusa were completely gone, erased by a flawless cellular reconstruction. She traced a finger over the smooth skin, her shoulders shaking as a deep-seated feeling of filth and insecurity washed away.
Kushina didn't hesitate. Sliding her legs off the edge of her cot, she crossed the room and pulled the crying girl into a tight, fierce hug.
"You haven't told me who did this to you," Kushina said, her voice dropping to a sad whisper as she felt the girl tense. "And you don't have to. Just know that it won't happen again. Naruto will make sure of it, and your future in-laws will make sure of it. Right, Minato?"
Minato smiled warmly from his cot, his posture relaxed but his blue eyes absolutely serious. "Right. You are part of the family now, Karin. You'll never have to face anything like that alone again."
Kushina let out an excited gasp, her intense mood instantly flipping into a bright, beaming smile. "Tell you what, I'll take you shopping the second we're out of here! You finally need something without long sleeves, and I am going to help you pick out the absolute cutest stuff."
She gushed, clearly thrilled at the prospect of a real outing with the girl who Kushina already considered her daughter.
Sakura smiled as she lowered her clipboard, stepping closer to the cots. "As much as I hate to ruin the planning, I need to check your vitals one last time before I can officially clear you to leave."
Before she could take a step, the heavy security seal on the ward door dissolved with a soft hiss. The door slid open, and Kakashi stepped into the room, his Hokage hat tilted back slightly.
"You might want to make that an extensive shopping trip, Kushina," Kakashi said, a relaxed smile on his face.
Kushina blinked, turning her head. "Kakashi? What do you mean by that?"
Leaning his back against the wall, Kakashi crossed his arms over his chest. "I mean that you won't need to hide in the shadows anymore. I'm planning to announce your return to the village very soon. It's time for the two of you to live your lives out in the open, right where you belong."
Kushina gasped, her hand flying to her mouth.
Minato's expression sharpened, a worried undertone cutting into his voice. "Wouldn't that complicate things for you, for Konoha? The questions about how we're both alive... the scrutiny from the other villages. Are you sure about this, Kakashi? It's not that I don't appreciate it, but I don't want us to be the reason the other villages start poking their noses where they don't belong."
Kakashi chuckled, tilting his head in Kushina's direction. "And the other villages have been respectful neighbors when? Look at what happened to Kushina, or even Hinata. Those are just the ones people know about. The Hidden Cloud has been trying to kidnap young clan members from other villages since the day they were founded. Every village has skeletons in its closet."
His smile faded, his tone turning firm. "But I won't let their potential reactions make me overly cautious. I am the Hokage. If need be, I'll do what needs to be done."
Minato held his gaze, seeing nothing but absolute determination in his former student's eyes. A soft smile tugged at his lips as he nodded.
"I doubt they'd outright start anything with someone who can bring the dead back to life," Minato noted. "They'd likely worry you'd bring Lord First and Second back as well. The balance of power has already shifted a great deal. They're likely to try and team up against us."
Minato shook his head right after saying that, recalling the political climate.
"No, considering our good relations with the Sand and Mist, I don't see the Stone acting rashly. And Naruto already sent a message, from what I hear. The kid even has a mark on Killer Bee, which A wouldn't be willing to test. If anything, I'm sure they're hoping the stance Konoha has on not starting wars will hold."
"And it will, but that requires them not to act rashly," Kakashi replied, waving a hand dismissively. "When the Akatsuki becomes a big enough threat, I'll use the opportunity to unite the nations against them. With the Sand and Mist joining in, the others will either fall in line or foolishly choose to leave the fate of the world in our hands, something nobody with a shred of pride or competence would do."
He pushed off the wall, walking closer to the beds. "But that's not important right now. I came to check on you. How is everyone doing?"
"Never better." Kushina flexed and patted her right bicep with a grin, Karin wiping her eyes before nodding along, Minato agreeing as well, not yet knowing what had changed with him, but he certainly felt different.
Kakashi nodded, satisfied with their responses. "Good to hear. I hate to cut this short, but I still have to go check on Tenzo."
He paused at the doorway, looking back at Minato and Kushina one last time. "Be ready. I can announce it to the village as early as tomorrow, or whenever you two feel comfortable. Just let me know when you're prepared."
With a casual wave over his shoulder, he stepped out into the quiet hallway. He walked a short distance down the corridor until he reached Tenzo's room.
The air inside was heavy and thick, carrying a dense pressure that smelled faintly of rich earth and fresh cedar.
Tenzo was sitting on the edge of his mattress, staring blankly down at his own palms. Shizune stood near the medical monitors, her clipboard held tight against her chest as she looked up at the Hokage with wide, stunned eyes.
"Lord Hokage," Shizune breathed out, her voice barely a whisper. "You need to look at these readings."
She gestured from the paper clipped to her board toward the glowing medical screen beside the bed. "His cellular data..."
Kakashi walked over, his eyes scanning the fluctuations on the screen before looking to Tenzo.
"How do you feel, Tenzo? Not only more energetic, but sturdier too, correct?"
Tenzo looked up, his fingers clenching into tight, firm fists. "Yes, Lord Hokage. Sturdier is... an understatement. It feels like my muscles and bones have doubled in density. My chakra doesn't feel like it has a bottom anymore."
Kakashi smiled, entirely satisfied with the outcome. "That's because the serum did exactly what I hoped it would. It targeted the Hashirama cells in your body and perfectly fused them with your own DNA. You've awakened a true Sage Body."
Tenzo's eyes widened slightly as the weight of that statement sank in.
"Don't misunderstand," Kakashi added calmly, crossing his arms. "You aren't instantly at the level of the First Hokage at his peak. But right now? The diluted imitation no longer holds you back. Your Wood Release will be filled with much more life now, and you have the chakra reserves too; where you take it from here depends entirely on you."
"I won't waste this gift, Lord Hokage," Tenzo said, his dark eyes burning with a newfound focus. "I'll make sure to master this and show you that your trust wasn't misplaced."
Kakashi patted him on the shoulder with a reassuring smile. "I know you will. For now, get some rest and let your system fully adjust. We have a lot of building to do on that mountain, and I'm going to need your new strength sooner rather than later."
Tenzo blinked, his intense focus instantly dropping into a flat, deadpan expression. He looked from his palms up to his former captain's face. "Lord Hokage... did you give me this serum so that I can help with construction?"
"Maa, no... that'd be ridiculous," Kakashi replied smoothly, offering a casual smile that didn't quite cover up how perfectly useful Yamato would be for the job. "Wood Release has lots of uses; you can be more help when Naruto has to master the Nine-Tails' power. With the serums upgrade, it'll be even more potent, reducing the risks."
Kakashi explained a plausible reason, not having the heart to tell the man that Naruto, even if, for some reason, the Nine-Tails decided to fight for fun, or seriously, would get beaten into the ground by Naruto at this point. Six Paths Sage Mode, Flying Raijin, Rasengan, and its variants on top of his other skills- yeah, that wouldn't be fun for Kurama.
Tenzo exhaled a small sigh of relief, his shoulders relaxing. "I suppose that makes sense. If it's for Naruto's safety, I'll be ready."
"Good to hear," Kakashi said, turning toward the door with a casual wave. "Get some rest, Tenzo."
Stepping back out into the hospital corridor, Kakashi felt a quiet sense of satisfaction. Those around him were becoming stronger or were already strong; Konoha was improving in every field, and the foundations of his ideas were being laid out at this very moment.
- Chapter End -
Lol, don't worry, everyone; it's not dropped. My Professor decided it'd be nice of her to make us write an essay, do a test, and then create video and audio presentations on the character we chose for said essay. So, it was a fun time; gotta love it.
