I could only laugh.
If this were the past, I could easily believe Jessie was just hungry for gossip, hoping that there was a chance that Violet would be taken down and her reign of terror would be over. But now that I had a suspicion that she could be spying for Violet, willingly or not, I couldn't be as free with her as before.
But I could use this chance to test if Jessie was indeed sneaking news to Violet.
"There's no way they'll pick me over Violet. She's their beloved 'chosen mate', remember?" I said sarcastically. "I'm just here so that they can keep a closer eye on me. Although…" I let my voice trail off purposefully, and Jessie leaned in, curiosity evident in her eyes.
"Cassian has been treating me nicer lately. He even fed me personally today," I said.
