The black SUV rolled smoothly through the iron gates before slowing to a stop beneath the steeet lights illuminating the estate.
For several seconds, nobody moved.
Damian remained seated quietly in the rear with his eyes closed while Delaney sat opposite him stiffly. The atmosphere inside the vehicle felt completely different now.
Earlier, Delaney thought he was sharing a ride with a talented lawyer. Now, he wasn't sure what exactly sat across from him anymore.
Damian finally opened his eyes and spoke calmly.
"I will consult with my teacher and give you and your colleagues an appropriate meeting time and venue at dinner." His tone remained simple as though deciding when politicians would be granted an audience was perfectly normal.
Delaney immediately straightened unconsciously.
"Yes… I understand." His response came out almost automatically.
