Chapter 157 - Chapter 157: Homura Akemi's Witchification? Shameless Old Thief Lin

On the big screen, the story continued.

Having regained her memories, Homura Akemi immediately suspected Bebe, who was always by Senior Mami's side. After all, Bebe was originally the Dessert Witch Charlotte, the one who had once bitten through Senior Mami's neck.

Now that Madoka had become a God and all the Witches had been destroyed, the existence of this Dessert Witch was highly suspicious.

She and Madoka went to Senior Mami's house. While Senior Mami was busy refilling their tea, Homura activated her time-stopping ability, seized Bebe, and left the house to interrogate her.

However, she hadn't anticipated that Senior Mami had a hidden trick up her sleeve. The ribbons she used as weapons were secretly wrapped around Homura's ankles, preventing her time-stopping ability from working.

Seeing Bebe being "bullied" so badly by Homura, Senior Mami couldn't stand it and intervened to rescue Bebe. Once Bebe had left, she engaged Homura in a fierce battle.

The fight was spectacular, a visual feast that unfolded in just a few minutes, leaving the audience utterly thrilled.

Despite Homura's overpowered time-stopping ability, she was still no match for Senior Mami, the type of opponent she had always struggled against. She had lost to Mami once in the third episode of the TV series, and this time, she lost again.

Soon, Homura Akemi was completely bound by the ribbons that Senior Mami had wrapped around her, holding her firmly in place.

Senior Mami asked why she had bullied Bebe. Forced to tell the truth, Homura revealed that Senior Mami had been deceived by a Witch.

At first, Senior Mami claimed to know nothing about any Witches, insisting that they had always been fighting demonic beasts.

As soon as she said this, she realized something was wrong. If they had always been fighting demonic beasts, then what was a Nightmare?

While she was pondering this, Sayaka suddenly appeared and rescued Homura Akemi. Then, Nagisa Momoe, who had transformed into a petite girl from Bebe, emerged to apologize for deceiving Senior Mami and promised to explain the situation to her.

Meanwhile, Sayaka helped sever the ribbons binding Homura Akemi.

After landing, Homura Akemi couldn't resist turning back to ask, "You... you are...?"

Sayaka stood with her back to Homura, hands clasped behind her head, and replied, "Really, you dared to provoke a fully charged Senior Mami head-on. Are you overconfident or just foolish?"

"Clashing with Mami Tomoe wasn't my intention. She wasn't my target..."

Homura Akemi was explaining, but before she could finish, Sayaka suddenly interrupted. "It's Bebe, right? Targeting her just because she used to be a Witch is going too far, even for you."

"You... remember?" Homura was surprised.

"Because it's my mission. Besides, doesn't it strike you as odd? A Witch capable of creating a Barrier as vast as Mitakihara, yet she doesn't attack or kill other humans. She just traps us inside and does nothing afterward. The Dessert Witch you remember wouldn't act so strangely, would she?" Sayaka pointed out as she explained.

Homura was taken aback.

Sayaka continued, "If you think about it, you'll realize this Witch's Barrier isn't a trap to lure prey. The Witch controlling it must have a different goal—maintaining the status quo. So, the real question is: who benefits from this situation? If we start from there..."

Homura listened silently, then quickly stood up, about to activate her time-stopping ability. But Sayaka immediately noticed and stopped her with a sword strike.

"Are you saying someone among us wants this to happen?" Homura suddenly asked.

"Isn't it strange? Senior Mami just said she's 'happiest right now.' What do you think? Do you think Senior Mami is a Witch?" Sayaka retorted.

"A Witch is the final form of a magical girl. Yes, that's a possibility," Homura Akemi replied.

"That's exactly the kind of answer you'd give," Sayaka mused. She quickly asked another question: "What are you going to do about the Witch who cast this Barrier? Are you going to eliminate her?"

Homura Akemi was startled.

"Just because she's a Witch?" Sayaka pressed.

She didn't think the Witch deserved such a fate.

Homura Akemi suddenly remembered something:

"What Mami Tomoe recalled was a battle against a demonic beast, not a Witch. Sakura Kyoko didn't deduce it might be a Witch's Barrier not because she'd forgotten about Witches, but because neither of them knew Witches existed."

"That's natural. In this universe, Witches don't exist anymore. All magical girls' souls are reclaimed by the Law of Cycles before they become Witches. It was that child who reshaped the world like this, at the cost of her own sacrifice..."

"I think I'm the only one who remembers the truth. There are three people here who shouldn't exist: the witch who cast this barrier, Bebe, who is still in her witch form, and you, who know about the witch. Who are you? Are you really Sayaka Miki?"

Hearing this, Homura Akemi realized something was seriously wrong.

But Sayaka replied, "That's a cruel thing to say. I'm the Sayaka you know, transfer student."

She glanced back at Homura Akemi and attacked, but failed to subdue her.

Before Homura Akemi could activate her time-stopping ability, Sayaka had already fled. As she left, she called out, "Do you truly want to destroy Mitakihara? Think carefully before acting, lest you regret it."

Homura Akemi walked silently for a few steps, then looked back and thought to herself: This is a false town, a world born from someone's dream, a world of wishes.

One bizarre scene after another unfolded.

In front of the large screen, Shiga Takaoya couldn't help but ponder silently.

At first, he thought this Witch might be a magical girl who had appeared from somewhere. But as the plot unfolded, it became clear the Witch was one of the main characters.

Kyoko and Senior Mami could be ruled out first. Bebe and Sayaka didn't seem likely either.

That left only Homura Akemi and Madoka.

Could Madoka have become a Witch?

Or had Homura, after losing Madoka, become so lonely and consumed by despair that she ultimately fell into Witchhood?

Considering the final promotional image of Homura standing alone before the movie's release, and the scenes in the opening sequence that clearly torment her, the possibility of Homura becoming a Witch seemed more likely.

But that would be absurdly ironic. He clearly remembered that back in September, Animation Director Lin Zhiyan, that old thief, had posted online that the movie was made to "atone for regrets," implying it would bring Homura and Madoka together.

If Homura really had become a Witch, Madoka God would surely come to take her away. In that case, it would be an utterly "beautiful" and "reuniting" ending.

That shameless Old Thief Lin is at it again with his fraudulent advertising. Doesn't he fear getting beaten to death?
