Chapter 141 - Chapter 142: The Storm Approaches

As the two were speaking, the port of a small asteroid base near Mendel was also bustling with activity.

"Boss, are we really going to attack Mendel? Someone from who knows where has already leaked the news that we're planning to strike Mendel."

A young man with a bitter expression looked at the scar-faced leader in front of him. Although addressed as "Boss," he appeared to be around the same age as the Adjutant.

The scar-faced leader showed no sign of hesitation at the Adjutant's words.

This base belonged to Blue Cosmos, and the reason for the commotion was their impending terrorist attack on Mendel.

"Mendel should already be prepared."

Although Mendel had limited defensive capabilities, it maintained lingering connections with several companies from the Atlantic Federation.

This made the terrorists directly under Blue Cosmos hesitant to act recklessly.

"What do you know!"

"It must be other Blue Cosmos members who couldn't hold back and started moving. We're just joining the group!"

Indeed, in the eyes of the Blue Cosmos base leader, this news was entirely a warning of an attack by their comrades.

After all, Blue Cosmos was a relatively loose organization, especially for those who identified as its members.

So, it wasn't impossible that the other side was genuinely part of Blue Cosmos.

"That place is the root of all evil. The higher-ups will never understand!"

As he spoke, the scars on the young leader's face twitched with his expressions, resembling wriggling earthworms—a truly frightening sight.

"But what if it's fake..."

The Adjutant, feeling fearful, whispered softly.

Putting aside whether their backers would be angry, if this was a trap, they would be walking right into it.

Even as terrorists, they couldn't just rush in like this.

They were piloting Battleships, not driving car bombs like in the past.

Besides, car bombs used civilians, not the bombers themselves.

"What does it matter if it's fake?"

The leader sneered and continued.

"If those Coordinators are using our name to stir trouble, we need to monitor them even more."

He wasn't foolish; he had made several preparations for this mission.

"And even if we die, exploding inside Mendel would not only destroy the Coordinators' schemes but also strike at those damned inhuman research organizations."

His motives weren't as noble as he made them sound; he simply saw this as a good opportunity to seize credit.

Although Blue Cosmos's funders were doing business with the other side, there were far more people who wanted to take over that company.

For this mission, he had guarantees and potential benefits from his superiors.

If successful, his position could rise.

Of course, the leader had no intention of sharing these details with his Adjutant.

There were no rules here; the law of the jungle applied even among comrades.

Faced with his leader's words, the Adjutant opened his mouth, feeling helpless but unable to voice any objections.

However, there were indeed loopholes in this plan.

If this information came from other Blue Cosmos organizations, wouldn't their arrival disrupt the other party's plans?

Of course, this possibility was slim. After all, they were a directly affiliated organization. Since the boss had said so, it was most likely not an official operation.

Moreover, rogue Blue Cosmos organizations wouldn't be so far-sighted. The probability of it being Coordinators was indeed higher.

Thinking this, the adjutant, though helpless, acknowledged the other party's actions.

...

Just as various factions began to move under the false information deliberately spread by the Clyne Faction, the world situation seemed to calm down, like the stillness before a storm.

Time passed quietly for a day, and soon the transport ship carrying Fred and the others arrived just outside Mendel.

Unlike the funnel-shaped space colonies of PLANT, the colonies here were classic cylindrical structures.

This was Fred's first time seeing this type of space colony in person. In this L3 region, besides Mendel, there were several other space colonies.

In his room, Fred glanced at the Mendel blueprint in his hand, then looked up at Mendel, now so close he could almost touch it.

According to the data, these space colonies were owned by various Earth nations.

Some belonged to the Eurasian Federation, some to East Asia, and others, like Mendel, were used by companies for research.

Although their scale was certainly not as large as PLANT's, they could still be considered prosperous. However, when Kira and the others arrived a few years later, there wasn't much description of them. It was unclear whether this was due to the butterfly effect or because they had declined due to war and the Mendel incident.

But whatever the reason, it had nothing to do with Fred now.

After all, his goal here was simple: to take down Creuset.

Still, there were some unexpected gains, such as the structural diagram of Mendel in his hand.

Although it was Mendel's blueprint, cylindrical space colonies likely had similar structures.

This included details like where the ports were and where the energy conversion centers were located.

It also paved the way for the future Heliopolis.

Of course, for now, this idea only existed in Fred's mind.

At present, the most important thing for Fred was still Creuset.

Thinking this, Fred withdrew his gaze from the window, and the details of the plan once again played out in his mind.

In Fred's view, doing this should also provide some benefits, as he was constantly using his brain.

However, the system hadn't given any prompts, so he couldn't be sure.

Not long after Fred had mentally rehearsed the plan once more, the metal door to the young man's room opened.

"Fred, we're about to dock."

Alec's expression was serious, and his gaze and tone toward Fred carried a rare solemnity.

After spending the day by Fred's side, he had fully grasped the details of the plan and naturally understood its critical points.

They needed to dock at Mendel's port, disguised as an ordinary cargo ship, while the troops led by Haken would carry out covert operations.

With the plan about to begin, it was no wonder Alec was tense.

"Alright."

Fred gave a slight nod upon hearing this, then stood up as well.

The young man's tall and straight figure had unknowingly grown to match Alec's height.

The expression on his face was hidden by the mask, but his exposed mouth was not tense.

There was no difference from usual.
