I'd hoped to get the blood results the next day, but Dr. Hornsby ended up needing to perform an emergency C-section on a sick omega a few towns over. He promised Zev he'd come by tomorrow with the results.
I tried not to worry, but it was difficult when the nausea and cramping got worse. I hid it as best I could from Zev because he needed to work. I mostly slept and read, trying not to exert myself.
Mrs. Gentry did the bare minimum for me. She instructed Luna to bring me meals, which I could barely eat, but other than that, she avoided me completely. I hoped she'd eventually come to tolerate me better. I wasn't going anywhere. It would be awkward to live with someone who loathed me for no reason other than I existed.
Luna was a welcome presence in the house. She was always cheerful and also a useful source of gossip. When she brought me a tray for lunch, she informed me she'd heard Zev arguing with Mrs. Gentry that morning.
