Reze's mind uncontrollably began to replay some exciting midnight moments.
Just then.
"Cough! Cough!"
Su Modie coughed stiffly twice, forcibly interrupting Reze's replay.
"Reze! Clear those R-rated yellow scraps out of your head! Right now! Immediately!"
After all, their thoughts were shared... like a single channel. If Reze was daydreaming here, the other avatars could naturally see it too.
There were still Lux and Annie, two truly innocent young girls, in the channel!
Su Modie helplessly held her forehead.
However... speaking of the topic of "parents."
Su Modie suddenly realized... including the main body, there were seven people in total—
Su Modie, Reze, Perona, Lux, Makima, Annie Leonhart, and Retsu Unohana.
Out of seven people, they could only scrape together one pair of living biological parents.
Or rather, not "scrape together," because this pair of biological parents belonged to just one person.
Yes, it was Lux.
As expected, Lux was still the most out of place one.
Except for her, all the other villainesses, including Su Modie herself, were orphans.
Either their parents were both dead, or they had been abandoned, which was no different from being dead.
This really was a consistent "Villainess Orphanage."
However, while they lacked biological parents, they had plenty of adoptive fathers.
Perona had one, Annie had one, and now, Reze was probably going to end up with a cheap godfather out of nowhere.
But Reze was clearly extremely resistant to this.
Absolutely not!
As a pure Soviet-made devil, to actually recognize an American capitalist as a father...
It sounded quite like a dark joke.
Of course, that wasn't what Reze cared about.
What Reze truly resisted was the absolute incompatibility between her personality and Tony Stark's.
Reze's greatest dream was to live low-key, blooming only for Su Modie.
Having her stand in the spotlight like a Joker, accepting media interviews, and being some World-saving hero?
That would be more painful than killing her!
And Tony Stark?
If Reze was the "Country Mouse," then this man was a veritable "Mouse Tycoon."
He was so high-profile he practically wanted to carve "I'm awesome" on his forehead; if he didn't show off for a day, he'd feel uncomfortable all over.
Getting involved with someone like that, Reze could foresee her miserable future even if she thought with her toes.
This was also the fundamental reason why she hated it to her core and was absolutely unwilling to join that bullshit "Avengers."
As expected, however, the girls' small talk didn't last long.
After eating a few fries, the smile on Natasha's face gradually faded as she returned to her professional state.
She pulled out a tissue to wipe her hands and got down to business.
"Reze, S.H.I.E.L.D.... or rather, all of humanity is in big trouble." Natasha looked at Reze, who was still dealing with her burger, her tone turning serious. "The Director has officially initiated the Avengers Initiative. We need your help. Join us."
If Reze agreed, then the original F6 of the Avengers would become F7, but...
However, faced with Black Widow's invitation, Reze didn't even hesitate.
"I refuse." Reze swallowed her food and answered decisively. "I'm already a special consultant for S.H.I.E.L.D. I get paid to do a job, and the cooperation has been pleasant. But making me officially put on a uniform to join some Avengers as a full-time hero? Forget it, I'm not interested."
Natasha looked at Reze's resolute gaze and knew that persuasion was useless.
She didn't waste any more words, simply stood up, walked to the side, and dialed Nick Fury's comms.
After a brief report, Fury on the other end of the line was silent for just two seconds.
"Understood." Fury's voice showed no emotion, only a hint of regret. "Keep her consultant status unchanged. As long as she's willing to act when necessary, it's fine. Bring her back to the mothership; we can afford her price."
On the other side, Tony Stark's recruitment went much more smoothly.
As someone naturally craving the stage, Tony's inherent individual heroism destined him not to miss this event.
Especially when Coulson, who hadn't expected Reze to refuse, intentionally or unintentionally revealed that Reze would also intervene in this incident as an Avenger...
Both Coulson and Natasha's missions were completed successfully, but... there had only ever been one most troublesome Avenger.
...
Makima stepped in her high heels, stopping steadily before the thick reinforced glass wall.
"Bruce Banner."
Makima spoke calmly, her voice echoing through the communicator in the empty isolation chamber, carrying an undeniable composure.
"I am Makima, here on behalf of S.H.I.E.L.D."
She looked at his back and said flatly, "We need you to come with us."
Banner slowly turned his head.
Banner
His complexion was poor, his eyes filled with deep exhaustion, and his gaze toward Makima was mixed with obvious dissatisfaction and wariness.
After all, he had been locked in this sunless iron shell by S.H.I.E.L.D. like a monster for nearly half a year.
"And if I refuse?" Banner's voice was somewhat raspy, clearly carrying suppressed emotion.
Makima tilted her head slightly. "Is it you who refuses, or it?"
This "it," naturally, referred to the Hulk.
Banner curled his lips in self-mockery, his gaze gradually becoming sharp. "What if neither of us is willing?"
"Then I will persuade both of you."
Makima's tone remained calm, as if she were stating an established fact.
"You can't do it."
Banner snorted disdainfully, unsure if he was mocking the "persuade" or the "both."
"In these past few months, you haven't had a single record of losing control."
Makima looked at him, her voice softening slightly. "Director Fury has great faith that you can control yourself."
But these words seemed to touch Banner's frayed nerves.
He slowly stood up, a hint of green beginning to flicker in his eyes, his emotions growing more agitated. "Faith?"
"I don't even believe in myself, so what right do you have to believe in me?"
Makima was about to say something when she was interrupted by Banner's cold snort.
He walked toward the glass wall step by step, his voice growing louder, carrying a long-suppressed rage. "Don't lie to me! Believe in me? Then why lock me in this cage?! I know... you're afraid of me!"
Before he finished speaking, Banner's body suddenly expanded, his clothes tearing, and violent green muscles instantly burst through his human skin.
The entire process of Banner turning into the Hulk
"Roar—!"
The Hulk let out a deafening roar, and a green giant fist larger than a sandbag slammed violently against the special reinforced glass!
"Bang!!!"
The entire glass wall trembled violently, and web-like cracks instantly spread outward from the point of impact.
Yet, standing just a step away outside the glass, Makima didn't move an inch.
She didn't even blink. Those pale green eyes were as calm as an abyss, quietly watching the rampaging Hulk as if he were merely a large green dog throwing a tantrum in a cage.
