The California sun on the West Coast finally allowed Charles to escape New York's terrible weather, and Charles returned to Los Angeles full of energy.
Megan Fox's "the sisterhood of the traveling pants" opened with $10 million at the North America box office, and the reviews were quite good.
At night, the bedroom of the Malibu beach villa was brightly lit, and Charles held the Lady as they lay on the bed, their longing for each other after a short separation making it feel like a new marriage; Megan Fox made Charles thoroughly pay his dues.
Leaning on Charles's chest, Megan Fox's face was flushed, "How did it feel to just watch 'the sisterhood of the traveling pants' in the theater?"
"The movie is pretty good, very much in line with the values of teenage girls. The box office won't be very high, but the movie has good word-of-mouth, and the cost is low, so Warner Bros. probably won't lose money!" Charles knew Megan Fox cared about this movie, but it really didn't have much commercial value.
It's a story of a girl's growth, a rare normal youth film in America.
However, Charles discovered a beautiful actress in the movie, the freshly debuted young beauty Blake Lively.
"Are you familiar with that Blake Lively?"
"She's a friend," Megan Fox said with a wary expression, "What? She's very pretty, isn't she? Do you have any ideas, do you want to sleep with her?"
"Pfft," Charles chuckled, how could she be so direct? He thought this in his heart, but he certainly couldn't admit it.
"What are you thinking? I feel like she's more suited for fashion-related works," Charles definitely couldn't let go of the "gossip girl" series now.
"Fashion works? Like your current 'the devil wears prada'?" Megan Fox certainly wanted a role in "the devil wears prada" too, but there really wasn't a suitable one, and a cameo appearance wasn't necessary.
Charles shook his head, "That's a workplace setting. I think with your current age and appearance, stories about school life would be more suitable, like the study and romantic stories of wealthy children in the Upper East Side high society of New York!"
"Oh, a teen idol drama," Megan Fox understood immediately; it would only be good if it succeeded like "mean girls."
"I've been studying at the acting school in Los Angeles for so long, isn't there a suitable role for me yet?"
"Don't worry, I'll arrange a role for you that can make you famous overnight, but you'll have to wait," Charles was a bit helpless about Hasbro's wavering.
"That teen idol drama you just mentioned?" Megan Fox became interested.
"Hmm," Charles was stunned, but "gossip girl" could indeed make one famous overnight, and even though it was television, it was much better than a supporting role in a movie.
"I have great confidence in this idol drama!" Charles also went along with Megan Fox's words. Wouldn't it be great to have Blake Lively partner with Megan Fox then?
However, Charles hadn't had time to pay attention to television or movies in the past few days; the Marvel Company's shareholders' meeting was approaching.
Capet Pictures itself owned % of Marvel Company's shares, and ETA acquired another 17% of Marvel Company's shares for Charles!
In Charles's office at Capet Pictures in Burbank, Los Angeles, Evelyn Capet sat on the sofa elegantly sipping coffee.
"Now you own % of Marvel Company's shares, and your position as the second largest shareholder is unshakable. How much did it cost in total?"
"Well, it's about $100 million," Charles said, shrugging, "Now Marvel Company's stock price has dropped a bit!"
"Heh, we spent a lot of money to get the media to report on Marvel Company's predicament and embarrassment, and I don't know how Ike Perlmutter managed to stabilize the remaining shareholders of Marvel," Evelyn Capet had no scruples chatting with her son.
"What are you planning to do today?"
Evelyn was asking what Charles planned to do at the Marvel Company's shareholders' meeting today.
"What to do?" Charles smiled. In Chinese terms, it's 'first courtesy, then force,' cutting through the mess quickly.
"Make a move, throw money!"
Evelyn smiled and stood up, "Let's go, it's time to leave!"
Beverly Hills, the second floor of the Mercedes-Benz showroom, was the headquarters of Marvel Company.
In the conference room, Charles Capet sat with Ike Perlmutter, David Mesel, and other shareholders and executives of Marvel Company.
"Charles, you called a shareholders' meeting, what exactly do you want to do?" Ike Perlmutter, as chairman and major shareholder, asked.
Charles waved to Donna next to him, and then Donna handed a copy of the materials to each of the shareholders and executives present.
"Currently, Marvel Company's market value has dropped to USD, and comic and toy sales have decreased. Except for Spider-Man and x-men, the licensed movies have all received low ratings and poor box office returns;"
"Marvel Company, it's time for a change!"
"I know everyone's time is tight, and I don't have much time either. I want to acquire Marvel and then privatize it, which I believe everyone knows;"
"So, I'll get straight to the point," Charles stood up, holding out four fingers, "$400 million. I am now acquiring your shares based on a Marvel Company valuation of $400 million!"
"Cough, cough!"
"Hiss!"
Many people gasped; this was a premium of over 50%.
"Three days, you only have three days to consider whether to sell?" Charles said, sweeping his gaze over the seated shareholders, finally settling his eyes on Ike Perlmutter.
"You can also choose not to sell. Marvel Company's debt will get higher and higher, the stock price lower and lower, and then there will be layoffs and department closures. When Marvel Company goes bankrupt again, I hope you can still keep your houses, ensure your children have enough dollars to finish college, and your wives don't have to pawn their jewelry..."
Ike Perlmutter stared at Charles. The united shareholders originally wanted to raise the price, but Charles directly threw out his final bottom line.
"Charles, Marvel still has a character rights library of over 5,000, which will be the greatest fortune..."
"Who? Morbius? Rogue? Black Widow? Or War Machine and Black Panther?" Charles slapped the table with his hand,
"Where are Spider-Man, Thor, fantastic four, x-men and Mutants, as well as Daredevil, ghost rider, and the punisher?"
"At Sony Columbia, at Universal, at 20th Century Fox and Lionsgate!"
After Charles Capet finished speaking, he turned to leave the conference room. Thinking of something, he turned back and smiled: "Those who continue to hold shares after three days are welcome to face the continuously losing Marvel Company with me!"
Of course, Charles's gaze was mainly directed at the major shareholder, Ike Perlmutter, who was the most greedy.
