A grand Christmas cocktail party was being held in the banquet hall of the Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.
Naomi Watts specifically sent Charles an invitation, taking him to the cocktail party to meet people or experience the world.
"As expected, there are so many people. Hollywood truly is a place of debauchery!" Charles whispered with a smile as he entered the venue with Naomi.
"Many stars, singers, models, and entrepreneurs are here tonight, representing the best in culture, business, sports, and media," Naomi explained softly.
Charles nodded, agreeing: "It's also a good place to find opportunities!"
All kinds of handsome men and beautiful women were present, with many pretty Young Ladies circling around pot-bellied old men. Hollywood never lacks beauties; what it lacks is opportunity.
To get an opportunity, one must pay a price. It's a very reasonable exchange, though one must also avoid being taken advantage of.
Naomi watched for a while, then pulled Charles to a corner of the venue where Nicole Kidman was chatting and laughing with others.
Charles understood; it was probably his mother who asked Naomi to introduce him. Nicole Kidman was definitely a top star now.
Although she had just divorced Tom Cruise, her films *The Others* and *moulin rouge!*, released this year, were indeed outstanding.
"Nicole, this is Charles Capet, a young and talented film producer!"
"Hello, Ms. Kidman!" Charles, of course, took the initiative to greet her.
"Good evening!" Nicole Kidman looked at Charles, then at Naomi. He's a film producer?
"Charles just collaborated with Tom Hanks and his wife this year to develop a romantic comedy film that will be released next April," Naomi explained, understanding Nicole Kidman's meaning.
"Hey, that's good!" Nicole Kidman herself was now preparing to produce her first film.
After Nicole Kidman said a few casual words to Charles, he walked away. Given her current immense popularity, Nicole Kidman wouldn't waste time on a new producer.
Over the past two years, due to her emotional entanglement and subsequent divorce from Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman's mood was low, and her relationship with Naomi Watts grew warmer. Meeting Charles was a gesture of respect.
Hollywood is a Vanity Fair, and Charles felt there was nothing wrong with that. As a small figure now, he had to actively curry favor with others!
Holding a glass of wine, Charles moved through the venue, politely greeting everyone he met. Whether he knew them or not, that was the right approach.
Wandering through the venue, Charles didn't feel completely at ease; after all, he didn't know anyone.
"Good evening, my name is Charles Capet. Not used to the atmosphere here?" Charles noticed a sexy Lady with chocolate-like skin looking dazed on the side and proactively went over to chat her up.
The Lady turned her head, "Oh, good evening, I'm Jessica Alba!"
Realizing it was a young, handsome boy talking to her, she smiled and responded.
"I'm a new film producer, and I'm here hoping to find opportunities," Charles said, shrugging his shoulders somewhat helplessly. Opportunities were scarce.
Jessica Alba also nodded, saying, "I'm an actress, and I'm also here hoping to meet more people."
Jessica Alba was currently only starring in the sci-fi series *Dark Angel*, gaining some fame, but she was still a minor actress. Her other film roles were mostly supporting parts, without much impact.
Charles nodded and began chatting casually with Jessica Alba. When he noticed the actress Anne Hathaway not far away, Jessica Alba clearly showed an envious look.
Jessica Alba was 20, and Anne Hathaway was 19, but this year's *the princess diaries* made her well-known, and the image of a sweet princess was now associated with her.
"Are you envious?" Charles asked with a smile. After all, for television stars, the appeal of big-screen film actors was much greater.
Jessica Alba smiled. Of course, she was envious. She had started in 1993, and the roles she was known for were still from television dramas.
"You're a producer! What films have you been involved in?"
"*my big fat greek wedding*, it will be released next April. It's a low-budget romantic comedy, and I developed it in collaboration with Tom Hanks and his wife," Charles had nothing to hide; after all, this was his resume.
Subsequently, the two chatted for a few more sentences. After all, for Charles, Jessica Alba was just a pretty face, a sexy vase!
And in Jessica Alba's eyes, Charles was just a newcomer to Hollywood, a small-time assistant on a film set.
"Good evening, sir. I just overheard you mentioning a film collaboration with Tom Hanks?" A middle-aged man approached Charles to strike up a conversation.
"And you are?"
"Len Wiseman, a film art director and editor, who has participated in the editing of many Hollywood blockbusters!"
"Is there something I can help you with?" Charles looked at the man, who seemed to be around 30. He didn't recognize him.
"I have a script that I'm refining with other screenwriters, and I'm hoping to find a production company for support!"
So he was also here to seek investment. Charles himself had no one to support him; how could he support you?
"I'm sorry, I can't help you!" Charles certainly politely declined.
"Wait, sir, this is a story about new vampires and werewolves fighting for dominance. It's a film full of dark Gothic style."
