Dudley set the diary aside.
Then he took a large sealed barrel out of the pouch at his waist.
Unhurriedly, he also took out a gas mask.
Then he put it on his face.
When he lifted the lid of the sealed barrel, an extremely pungent smell rose from inside.
The barrel was filled with a colorless, transparent, viscous liquid.
He had no interest whatsoever in flipping through the diary of that upperclassman named Tom Riddle.
Nor did he have the slightest interest in the knowledge he possessed.
That kind of thing could be understood directly by asking a professor or reading books. Why ask something that would very likely deceive and use you?
What he was after was the Philosopher's Stone and magic crystal refined from the soul fragment inside the diary.
The diary seemed to sense the danger and began emitting a constant buzzing sound, as if it wanted to negotiate, resist, or beg for mercy.
Unfortunately, that was of no use at all.
Dudley did not even intend to open it.
Without having absorbed enough vitality, it could not even manifest an illusory soul form.
It was simply a black diary.
At most, one with a vibration mode.
Fwish, fwish.
The diary opened by itself.
A line of words appeared on the page.
'Please wait a moment. I think we can talk.'
Dudley simply ignored it.
Then he took out a huge pair of tweezers and clamped the diary with them.
The diary struggled, but it was useless.
The method of creating a Horcrux was extremely special.
Even something as inconspicuous as a diary, after being turned into a Horcrux, became far sturdier than many other things.
To destroy it, special methods were required.
The known methods were the sword of Gryffindor or a fang coated in basilisk venom.
However, Dudley had neither.
So he used a new method.
The liquid inside that barrel.
Did you think what was inside the barrel was a powerful potion comparable to basilisk venom?
No, it was not.
In fact, it was not even a potion.
It was a barrel of "HSO3F-SbF5," or fluoroantimonic acid.
It could also be called...
"Magic acid."
It was a superacid with extremely strong corrosive power.
Even more potent than aqua regia.
According to Dudley's calculations, this was the best method to destroy the body of the Horcrux without lowering the quality of the Philosopher's Stone.
Of course, this only applied to the diary.
If it were the locket, the Resurrection Stone, or something of that sort, the effect might not be as good.
Naturally, it would also have an extraordinary effect on Hufflepuff's cup, provided that thing was truly made of pure gold.
He tossed the diary into the barrel.
The viscous liquid inside instantly enveloped the entire diary.
The whole barrel began shaking violently.
The liquid inside it also began boiling like scalding water.
But what did not disappoint Dudley was that the corrosion of the "magic acid" took effect.
The diary began dissolving at an extremely fast speed, constantly emitting "tss, tss" sounds.
The diary would not simply sit there and wait for death either.
Large amounts of black liquid began leaking from various parts of it.
Unfortunately, that black liquid could not ease the corrosion of the "magic acid."
When less than a third of the diary remained, a mass of black smoke emerged from inside it, accompanied by an indescribable rotten stench.
The black smoke formed a young, distorted face.
It opened its mouth toward Dudley, as if releasing a silent, furious roar.
"Finally, you came out!"
Seeing that, Dudley revealed a satisfied smile.
He took half a step back.
Then he stomped his right foot on the floor.
Immediately, an enormous alchemy array appeared beneath his feet, covering the entire room.
"Hello, Senior Tom. I'm your junior, Jerry."
Dudley introduced himself to the distorted face.
But it was only a greeting.
Dudley had no intention of communicating with him.
After speaking, he simply waved at the black smoke.
"Well then, goodbye, senior."
He did not give Tom even half a second to explain, communicate, or negotiate.
He brought his hands together.
And the red alchemy array illuminated the entire room.
A short while later, two gems, one red and one blue, lay quietly in the center of the array, shining.
...
Hogwarts Castle.
The girl named Madison watched Dudley leave.
When his figure disappeared at the end of the corridor, the corners of her mouth could not help but rise, drawing a perfect curve.
She walked a few steps to the right and leaned against the windowsill.
Under the warm sunlight, she stretched lazily, relaxing her body.
Her movements were extremely soft, and she could not help letting out a series of low sounds from her throat, like a kitten enjoying the sunlight.
Although she looked very young, every gesture revealed a unique sensuality.
Perhaps the word "sensuality" should not be used for a first-year witch.
But it was sensuality.
Yes.
The girl's entire being exuded a quality called "seduction."
She was not purely human.
Her mother simply was not human, but a magical creature called a Veela.
She and her brother Marcus were not siblings from the same mother.
They had the same father, but different mothers.
She was an illegitimate child, and Roberts was her mother's surname.
Logically speaking, pure-blood wizards looked down on even Muggle-born wizards, let alone magical creatures.
But that did not stop them from "fooling around" a little.
This kind of thing was not rare at all among pure-blood wizards.
Malfoy's grandfather, Abraxas Malfoy, had died of dragon pox.
As for how he contracted it, take a guess.
"As expected of the king of Slytherin. He really is different from the other young wizards."
Madison licked the corner of her lips in a tempting way.
At that moment, she removed all of her camouflage.
If other young wizards saw her, they would be enchanted by her in an instant and become her prisoners.
Veela charm could make men obsessed and mad.
And Madison, who possessed Veela blood, had inherited that perfectly.
In fact, her charm was even more intense than that of an original Veela.
She called it Demonic Charm.
She knew Dudley had certainly seen through her disguise.
Because that, in itself, had been done on purpose.
The collision at the corner.
The cheap perfume mixed with love potion on her body.
All of it had been part of the act.
As long as he was willing to use his brain even a little, he would understand.
But hadn't she successfully drawn his attention that way?
Madison smiled lightly.
She looked back with overflowing charm, revealing exactly eight white teeth.
'As long as he remembered me, he would pay attention to me.'
'After that, the rest would be easy.'
'If, in the future, even without the perfume mixed with love potion, he still felt deeply attracted to me, do you think he would not believe that was love?'
Madison firmly believed in the scenario she had designed.
And she believed even more firmly in her own charm.
Her charm was something even adult wizards could not resist.
She had proven that point long ago.
There was one more detail to mention.
In truth, she was originally supposed to be sorted into Slytherin.
But she rejected the Sorting Hat's decision and, because of that, ended up in Ravenclaw.
In her words, she wanted to bring a different kind of experience.
If someone had already grown tired of the girls from his own House, why not look at the girls from the House next door?
Just wait.
As long as she created a few more "coincidences"...
He would deliberately try to learn more about her.
Then he would pay attention to her.
Care about her.
And after that...
It would not be long before he surrendered at her feet.
