Chapter 102 - Chapter 102: The Hidden Depths

The world above believed the battle was over.

They were wrong.

Beneath the Silence

Deep below the ruined battlefield—far beneath the cracked stone, beyond the molten layers and collapsed tunnels—something ancient stirred.

Not violently.

Not chaotically.

But with purpose.

The cavern was vast, untouched by the destruction above. Black stone pillars stretched endlessly into darkness, carved with symbols so old they no longer belonged to any known language. At the center of it all…

A sealed structure.

Not broken.

Not damaged.

Waiting.

A faint pulse echoed through the chamber.

Slow.

Deliberate.

Alive.

The Forgotten Seal

Ancient chains—formed not of metal, but of condensed energy—wrapped around a massive gate embedded deep within the cavern wall. Symbols glowed faintly across its surface, reacting to something unseen.

Then—

A crack.

Barely noticeable.

But real.

The seal… had weakened.

Not from time.

Not from erosion.

But from something above.

Something powerful enough to disturb what should never be touched.

Above Ground – Uneasy Calm

Back on the surface, reconstruction had begun in full force. Spatial mages from the Astryn Family restored terrain, while Helior envoys reinforced protective barriers around the arena. Students were being escorted back to their respective camps, though the tension in the air hadn't faded.

No one spoke of it openly…

But everyone felt it.

Something was wrong.

Cael Feels It

Standing alone near the edge of the arena ruins, Cael's eyes narrowed slightly.

That ripple again.

Faint.

But deeper this time.

The relic within him pulsed once—low and heavy.

Not reacting to the storm.

Not reacting to the battlefield.

But reacting to something… beneath.

"…So it wasn't just the beast," he murmured.

Selina Returns

"You feel it too."

Her voice came from behind.

Calm. Certain.

Selina stepped beside him, her frost aura faintly active, reacting instinctively to the unseen pressure.

"This isn't normal," she continued. "Even the elders are uneasy."

Cael didn't look at her.

"It's not from above," he said.

A pause.

Selina's gaze sharpened.

"…Then where?"

Cael's eyes shifted downward.

"The ground isn't quiet."

Crimson Moves in the Shadows

While the surface focused on recovery—

Another operation had already begun.

Hidden. Silent.

Deadly.

Members of the Crimson Order moved through restricted zones beneath the arena, cloaked in layers of blood-infused energy. Their presence was masked, their movements calculated.

One of them knelt before a sealed passage, placing a hand against ancient stone.

"It's reacting," he whispered.

Another stepped forward.

"That means the trigger worked. The beast was only the first key."

A pause.

Then—

"And the second… is him."

The Truth Begins to Surface

Back above, Kaelith approached Cael and Selina, his shadows unusually restless.

"This place isn't stable," he said. "My shadows can't go deep. Something down there is… pushing them back."

Stormveil arrived moments later, arms crossed, expression serious.

"Same here. Lightning won't travel below a certain depth. It's like something is blocking everything."

Selina's frost cracked slightly at her fingertips.

"That means…"

Cael finished the thought.

"…It's sealed."

The Decision

Silence followed.

Then Cael stepped forward.

"I'm going down."

Selina frowned slightly.

"You don't even know what's there."

"I don't need to," Cael replied calmly.

A pause.

Then—

"It's calling."

The Entrance Revealed

Moments later, guided by subtle distortions in the terrain and the relic's faint pulses, they arrived at a hidden section of the battlefield.

A collapsed ridge.

Cracked deeper than the rest.

Not random.

Intentional.

Cael placed his hand against the ground.

Lightning flickered faintly.

Crimson threads followed.

The earth responded.

Slowly…

The ground split open.

Descent

A dark passage revealed itself beneath.

Cold air rushed upward.

Ancient.

Heavy.

Wrong.

Selina's frost aura intensified instantly.

Kaelith's shadows pulled close to him.

Even Stormveil's lightning dimmed slightly.

But Cael—

Stepped forward.

Without hesitation.

Cliffhanger

As they descended into the darkness—

Far below—

The sealed gate pulsed again.

The crack widened.

And from within—

Something exhaled.

Not loudly.

Not violently.

But with a presence that made the entire cavern tremble.
