Chapter 161 — Malfoy's Fury

"Luckily, even if Malfoy isn't the Heir of Slytherin, we still know plenty of clues," Ron said breathlessly as he slammed the bathroom door shut. "Lucius and the school governors are working together. They've gone mad—they actually want to force Dumbledore out of the school."

Harry didn't respond. He stared at the bathroom mirror and carefully reversed the Polyjuice transformation. Then he quickly put his normal clothes back on.

"Change your clothes first, so we don't get caught," he said.

But at that moment, the bathroom door suddenly opened—and no one had even knocked.

Harry and Ron froze and looked up carefully. Ron was still wearing Crabbe's oversized robes. Had Malfoy followed them?

"Is it Hermione?" Harry asked cautiously. Since she had the Invisibility Cloak, she would only appear when absolutely necessary. It should be her.

"Of course it's me. Did you think I went basket weaving?" a small figure appeared.

It was Hermione. She held the Invisibility Cloak in one hand while closing the bathroom door with the other.

"Malfoy became suspicious and tried to follow you. Luckily, I led him away. Now even if he finds anything, there's no evidence left," Hermione said proudly.

Their mission had gone extremely well. They had uncovered the truth behind the conspiracy without leaving a single trace. Even if Malfoy was furious, there was nothing he could do.

And Malfoy was furious.

He was angrier than ever—more furious than at any time before.

He had lost to Harry more times than he had lost Quidditch matches, and even Flint smiling could annoy him.

But this was different.

The discovery that Harry could speak Parseltongue—and that he might actually be connected to Slytherin's power—was shocking enough. Yet now, people were also saying Harry was Slytherin's Heir. To Malfoy, it felt like a complete humiliation of Slytherin itself.

Back in his room, he raged violently, throwing things everywhere.

Crystal glasses he usually treasured. Elegant alarm clocks used to organize his mornings. Fine quills used for writing and calligraphy. Everything he valued was smashed or thrown to the floor.

He even stomped on some of them and tore apart his notebooks.

It wasn't that he felt no attachment to them—but at this moment, only destruction could slightly relieve the anger burning inside him.

Losing the Quidditch match to Harry had already been humiliating, but that could be blamed on luck. Harry catching the Snitch at the last moment—despite nearly having his neck broken—was just coincidence. Malfoy believed Harry wouldn't stay lucky forever.

But this situation was different.

The discovery that Harry spoke Parseltongue only made him more furious. Potter, who had already defeated Voldemort as a baby and earned fame across the wizarding world, was now still making waves at Hogwarts. Wherever he went, he became the center of attention—even Slytherin's so-called heir was being associated with him.

To Malfoy, this was a disgrace to Slytherin.

And yet, he still believed that as long as the Duelling Club continued, Harry would eventually lose.

But today's events had brought him nothing but humiliation.

No excuses. No justifications. He had been completely outplayed.

Only Malfoy was supposed to scheme against others—no one was supposed to scheme against Malfoy.

And yet today, he had fallen directly into Harry and Weasley's trap.

Those fools had tricked him in his own territory, exposing him completely and making him lose face.

When he first noticed Crabbe and Goyle acting strangely in the common room, he had followed them. But once he entered the underground maze, he lost his way completely.

Still, he hadn't given up. He kept searching for them—and when he returned, he unexpectedly met the real Crabbe and Goyle.

"Those two idiots… they were tricked so easily. They told them everything," he thought bitterly.

Only then did he realize Crabbe and Goyle had been locked up after breakfast in the Great Hall—simply because they had found two cakes on the railing and eaten them without thinking. That was all it took for Harry and Weasley to use them against him.

Malfoy also understood the power of Polyjuice Potion. The recipe was even kept in his family's potion books. The Malfoy family was no stranger to such schemes.

The only problem was—this time, the Malfoys were not the ones using the potion to frame others.

They were the ones being humiliated by it.

Draco Malfoy had made so many mistakes today that he could no longer count them. He had been far too careless.

He never imagined that someone could infiltrate Slytherin common room—and even impersonate his own followers. This was Hogwarts, not a Death Eater battlefield.

Because of his lack of caution, everything had gone wrong.

Even when confronted by Crabbe and Goyle, he had to tell them to stop asking questions. He couldn't go after Harry. He couldn't even let Crabbe and Goyle know what had happened.

And in front of the fake Crabbe and Goyle, he had proudly revealed his father Lucius's plans—exposing the conspiracy against Dumbledore.

That information leak could have serious consequences, but he dared not tell his father. He could only bury today's humiliation deep inside him.

He couldn't even imagine what would happen if his father found out.

So he could only say to himself:

"Even if Potter knows something, they won't defeat Dumbledore through petty tricks. They'll need real power. If Dumbledore cannot handle the Hogwarts attacks, then he should leave."

"Whether the information leak helps Dumbledore or not… it doesn't matter. The secret must remain hidden."

Even if Dumbledore escaped this time, there would be other chances. But if Malfoy disappointed his father, he might never recover.

He would rather his father underestimate Dumbledore this time than risk disappointing him.
