Chapter 154 (Refined English Version)
"How am I supposed to control a Basilisk? That's a terrifying monster—it's already attacked students in the school!" Harry asked in disbelief.
"Don't pay attention to other people's rumors. Even if they really think you're the Heir of Slytherin, it doesn't matter. They have no right to gossip like that. If you can control the Basilisk, it won't harm the students. You might even be able to find its original master," George explained.
"The Basilisk is a very powerful magical creature, especially when controlled by a clever wizard. A wizard can easily command it, make it shut its ears, and even resist crowing attacks. I can teach you more methods. You need to be able to control it—and still deal with adult wizards without trouble," George continued encouragingly.
A Basilisk was not a stupid creature, nor was it weak. This applied not only to the beast itself but also to the wizard controlling it. A magical creature without intelligence does not mean the wizard lacks intelligence. Any weakness in such creatures can be compensated for by a sufficiently clever wizard.
"But…" Harry hesitated.
George was pushing him to admit his ignorance, but Harry still refused to accept it. The Basilisk's power had already been proven in recent attacks—students had no way to resist it, and even some professors claimed it could become invisible.
Although George insisted that Dumbledore was secretly making plans, the repeated attacks made Harry suspect that even Dumbledore might be powerless. Perhaps he was simply too old to deal with it.
No matter what Dumbledore was planning, the Basilisk's strength was undeniable. If Harry could control it, he would no longer need to fear Snape or anyone else.
"No… even if it's powerful, it's still a dark wizard's tool. It won't help against Voldemort," Harry said after a moment of thought.
The Basilisk was strong, but it belonged to Slytherin. Even if it could be controlled, Harry would still worry about countermeasures. If it went out of control, the consequences would be unbearable. More importantly, it would be useless against Voldemort.
"I'd rather have a phoenix," Harry said. That was his favorite magical creature.
Although Dumbledore's phoenix looked rather ugly, Harry had read about normal phoenixes in books—they were beautiful and powerful creatures no wizard could resist.
George looked at him strangely. "Good taste."
Then he added, "I've already arranged a magical pet for Zi Ji—a phoenix."
"So you'll definitely have a phoenix in the future," Harry said sincerely.
He believed George could eventually achieve what Dumbledore could, and even things Dumbledore could not.
"That's right!" George said confidently. After thinking for a moment, he added, "Getting a phoenix isn't impossible."
"What?" Harry, Hermione, and Ron all widened their eyes, instantly excited.
No wizard could resist the temptation of a phoenix, especially at their age.
"How can we get a phoenix?" Hermione asked impatiently. "Mine has to be the best."
"This is incredible…" Ron muttered, still unable to believe it.
For him, his greatest dream used to be just a new wand and new clothes. Now he was hearing about phoenixes—creatures only the greatest wizards could tame.
"Can we really tame a phoenix?" Harry asked uncertainly.
Historically, only a handful of wizards had ever done so.
"Don't underestimate Zi Ji," George said calmly. "We are fighting Voldemort right now. He is as strong as Dumbledore, maybe even stronger. If we can defeat someone like that, why couldn't we tame a phoenix?"
"That's right. Our goal is to defeat Voldemort," Ron said excitedly.
Even Ron now felt a surge of fighting spirit. If they truly defeated such a terrifying enemy, then taming a phoenix no longer seemed impossible.
"After defeating Voldemort, I'll dedicate the greatest achievement to a phoenix," George said after thinking for a moment.
After all, if Voldemort could be eliminated, it wouldn't be strange for phoenixes to appear as rewards.
But phoenixes were rarer than dragons. Finding one was difficult; finding four at once would be nearly impossible.
"If you can't do it, don't accept it unless you can breed phoenixes artificially," he added jokingly.
"I will find a phoenix after defeating Voldemort," Harry said confidently.
If there was only one phoenix, he would even let Hermione or Ron have it—he was willing to spend time finding his own.
"If any of you want to find phoenixes, I can give you leads," George added.
"I also want to find a phoenix for myself," Ron said reluctantly.
Since Harry had already stepped back, there was no reason to fight Hermione over it. Even if she contributed more, Ron didn't want their friendship ruined over a phoeni—
