Chapter 72 - Chapter 72: Mr. Weasley

Chapter 72: The Kind Mr. Weasley

"Harry?" Mr. Weasley asked blankly. "Which Harry?"

He hurriedly looked around the room. Only then did he notice Harry sitting there, and he suddenly jumped up.

"Oh my goodness! Harry Potter! I'm so happy to see you. Ron told us at school that he had made a good friend, and he told us a lot about you."

It turned out that Mr. Weasley wasn't wearing his glasses and looked rather untidy. He hadn't even realized who was sitting right in front of him.

"Your sons drove that magic car last night, flew halfway across the country, and went to Harry's house to pick him up," Mrs. Weasley said, crossing her arms. "What do you have to say for yourself now?"

"Really?" Mr. Weasley didn't look angry at all. Instead he asked curiously, "How did it fly? I… I mean—"

Seeing the anger in Mrs. Weasley's eyes, he immediately straightened up and spoke in a serious tone.

"Children, this is very bad. Very bad indeed…"

Watching this scene, George couldn't help smiling to himself.

"Mr. Weasley is truly a kind and interesting man."

In fact, Mr. Weasley was far from simple. Being able to apply magic to everyday life was something not every wizard could do.

More importantly, turning Muggle objects into magical items was no easy task. As he and Ron had said before, most other wizards were rather unimaginative.

Their so-called "pranks" were nothing more than placing simple spells on ordinary Muggle objects. In reality, these spells, despite requiring a lot of magical power, usually didn't last long. After being triggered a few times, they would simply lose their effect. That was why such spells were mostly used only for jokes.

But truly transforming an ordinary object into a magical item was completely different.

Take yesterday's flying car as an example. Even George was extremely curious about the principles behind it. After all, although George might not be as powerful as older wizards, he came from the internet age—a time of exploding knowledge. It was not easy to make him genuinely curious about something.

Turning an ordinary car into a magical flying car involved many complex principles. It certainly wasn't something that could be solved with just a few spells.

After all, the previous night they had flown halfway across the country in that car. It could be controlled easily, and its flying speed wasn't slow either.

Compared with specially crafted flying brooms made from rare magical materials, the flying car actually required far more advanced techniques.

More importantly, George didn't believe he would spend his entire life in this magical world of fewer than three thousand people. His dream was to possess the whole world.

Once he had enough power, magical items that ordinary people could also use would become extremely important to him.

Thinking of this, George concluded that his plan to support and win over the Weasley family could not be changed. It had to be implemented as soon as possible.

Harry had been extremely happy during the past few days.

Life at the Burrow was completely different from what he had experienced before. At the Dursleys' house, there were countless rules, especially for Harry. But the Weasley home was always full of novelty and surprises.

On the first day, the mirror beside the kitchen fireplace startled him. When he tried to look into it, the mirror suddenly shouted:

"Your shirt must be tucked into your trousers! That's the proper way to dress neatly!"

The ghoul in the attic also refused to let the house stay quiet for even a moment. It seemed afraid of silence. Whenever it didn't hear any noise, it would start roaring, screaming, and banging on the pipes.

Explosions often came from Fred's bedroom. Even more astonishing was that everyone seemed used to it, as if it were perfectly normal.

But what Harry liked most was that everyone here liked him. This was something he had never experienced before.

Even at Hogwarts—a place he loved—there were always Malfoy and Snape reminding him every day that he wasn't welcome and that some people hated him.

Only here, at the Burrow, among the Weasley family, did he truly feel that everyone liked him.

Mrs. Weasley would always look at him after every meal and give him extra food. It made Harry feel a little embarrassed. He was already quite strong, and now he was increasing his daily exercise as well.

Mr. Weasley liked to sit beside him during meals, constantly asking him about Muggle life—about electricity, appliances, and mobile phones.

A few days earlier, George had asked Raven to bring the phones over. Everyone now had a mobile phone, and they had all exchanged phone numbers.

Harry looked at the beautiful black phone in his hand—the smooth, streamlined body and the digital time display. It gave him a strange sense of reassurance.

Now he didn't have to worry about letters being intercepted anymore.

The phone also amazed Mr. Weasley.

"This is incredible," he sighed. "What a genius invention. Magic can't make communication this easy."

Besides the phones, George had also brought many clothes, including some for Harry. These were hurriedly taken from Privet Drive. During the summer, the Dursleys would never buy Harry new clothes.

At the Burrow, Harry usually wore his school robes—until George suddenly prepared a large pile of new clothes for everyone.

This made George something of an important figure in the Weasley household. Although he didn't talk much and always seemed serious, everyone liked him very much.

He secretly told Harry, "This is the secret to being popular as an otaku."

He didn't explain what an otaku was. Harry wondered privately—perhaps it was some mysterious branch of wizard culture? A secret tradition?

Speaking of George, Harry couldn't help feeling a little regretful that he couldn't stay at the Burrow for a few more days.

But it couldn't be helped. George had far too many things to deal with.

Besides the Soros family bookstore business that Harry already knew about, George was recently planning to work with Mr. Weasley to manufacture magical items.

Harry had always admired George. Sometimes he was even surprised by him, and occasionally he felt as though he had to look up to him.

It was difficult to treat George as an ordinary friend of the same age. George himself didn't like being treated as an eleven-year-old child. Just like his height and build suggested, Harry seemed like an outstanding adult in almost every way.

George said that he planned to apply Muggle technology to the manufacture of magical items. Because of this, he asked Mr. Weasley for a lot of advice about modifying magical objects and even paid him patent fees.

He also promised that once the magical items were successfully produced, they would continue paying Mr. Weasley royalties based on the value of the items.

This amount of money was not small—especially for the financially struggling Weasley family.

Mrs. Weasley initially refused. She didn't believe those inventions were worth so much money, nor did she want to easily accept help from others.
