The martial souls of Lan Luoluo and Lan Susu were their own hair. Perhaps it was the deep, innate bond shared by twins, or maybe a natural talent for acting as a single mind, but they had discovered a Martial Soul Fusion Skill shortly after their awakening. In this moment, as a flaming palm descended toward them, the sisters pulled each other into a desperate embrace. A blue halo erupted from their bodies, and their long blue hair lifted into the air, each strand shining with a crystal-clear luster. Martial Soul Fusion Skill—Heavenly Net! Countless strands of hair came to life, growing rapidly and twisting toward the red figure. Each strand was stronger than steel, weaving together to form a massive net.
But the flames of their opponent were far too terrifying. That dark red fire seemed capable of turning anything to ash. The moment the hair strands met that intense heat, they ignited. With a soft sizzle, the blue hair vanished into gray dust. The sisters pushed every bit of their energy into the skill, but they could not slow the red figure down. Their ultimate technique was useless. The cold fear of death rose up from deep within them. Tears fell down their cheeks, only to evaporate instantly in the heat. These two eleven-year-old freshmen clung to each other, staring at the burning figure with eyes full of pure despair.
Huo Yuhao and Wang Dong were not running at full speed, but Huo Yuhao had sensed the danger early. In a short moment, they reached the shore of Sea God Lake. The scene was clear. A figure covered in dark red flames was about to strike the two girls. Wang Dong's pupils shrank as he froze. He couldn't understand how something so violent could happen inside Shrek Academy. While his mind was racing with questions, Huo Yuhao had already acted. Two soul rings rose from beneath Huo Yuhao's feet. Wang Dong looked over and was instantly stunned. Red. Two vibrant red soul rings. Were those actually hundred-thousand-year soul rings?
Huo Yuhao pointed a single finger toward the flaming figure. A beam of light shot from his fingertip. The beam was thin, colored a pure white with a faint hint of jade green. It cut through the air and crossed the distance in an instant, hitting the red figure in the chest. Suddenly, the figure stopped. Her raised hand stayed in mid-air, the flames still flickering but unable to move forward. She turned her head, her burning eyes fixing on Huo Yuhao, but the attack had already landed. The terrifying flames on her body vanished instantly. A layer of frost began to spread from her chest, and in the blink of an eye, she was sealed inside a block of transparent ice.
The frozen body fell heavily onto the stone slabs by the lake with a dull thud. The entire shore went silent. Wang Dong stood with his mouth open, unable to find the words. "Are you... a Twin Martial Souls?" Wang Dong knew Huo Yuhao's first martial soul was the Spirit Eyes, which had purple and black rings. But these were red. His brain could not process the sight. Even for a Twin Martial Souls user, the first two rings should never be hundred-thousand-year ones. His mind was a complete mess.
Huo Yuhao looked at the shocked boy beside him. Seeing Wang Dong's flushed face and parted lips, he felt a brief urge to laugh. The boy looked almost cute in his confusion. Huo Yuhao felt a sudden impulse to pinch one of those rosy cheeks, but he pushed the feeling down. "Mhm," he replied simply. He offered no further details. "People are coming." Wang Dong looked toward Sea God Island and saw two white-clad figures flying toward them. They landed by the lake, appearing to be academy teachers.
Wang Dong took a breath to calm his shock. "Let's see what is going on. Shrek Academy shouldn't be like this." Huo Yuhao nodded, and they walked forward. He was right; these were inner courtyard teachers. Their specific job was to make sure Ma Xiaotao did not cause trouble when her evil fire acted up. Now that she had escaped and nearly killed students, it was a major failure on their part. The teachers scanned the area immediately. Seeing no dead bodies, they both let out a small sigh of relief.
Lan Luoluo and Lan Susu were still shaking from the near-death experience, their faces pale with terror. Wang Dong ignored the teachers' status and pointed at the ice block on the ground. "How could this happen here? Who is she?" One teacher frowned at Wang Dong, his voice cold and indifferent. "Freshmen do not need to know these things. You should forget what happened here." He looked at all four students. "If you don't, you will be expelled from this academy."
The threat made the twin sisters flinch. The idea of being expelled was like ice water hitting them. they had worked so hard to get here. If they were sent home, they could never face their families. They hadn't actually been hurt, so they looked at each other, bit their lips, and looked down at the ground in silence. They chose to give in.
"Is this a threat?" A clear voice rang out, filled with obvious anger. Wang Dong stood his ground, his face set in a serious expression. He pointed at the shaking girls. "These two almost died just now." He stared at the teacher without any fear. "You think we should just forget it because you say so? Based on what?" As a princess of the Clear Sky Sect, Wang Dong had been raised with every luxury. She didn't care about a Shrek teacher; she wouldn't even flinch if a Titled Douluo stood there. She had plenty of other places to go if Shrek didn't want her. A threat of expulsion meant nothing to her.
