"Are we really going to rely on a single snippet of audio to find one Japanese man in a city of millions?"
"No need for such a primitive search," Tony replied with a smirk. "He's already landed back in Tokyo."
By the time they walked out of Hank Pym's residence, the Avengers had acquired an unexpected new asset: Scott Lang, the reluctant Ant-Man. With the raw audio recorded by the suit's internal systems, Tony Stark's algorithms had easily matched the voiceprint to airport surveillance footage, capturing an unassuming Japanese passenger clearing customs. Had it not been for the microscopic telemetry stored in Scott's suit, such an ordinary face would have faded completely into the background noise of international transit.
"Lock it in. Next stop: Tokyo!"
Deploying via Quinjet into a country with an established U.S. military footprint required minimal red tape. A single high-level clearance cleared their flight path straight into the neon-drenched heart of Japan.
By nightfall, Tokyo was ablaze with flickering holographic signs and towering billboards. Swarms of salarymen in crisp suits brushed past street performers and elaborate cosplayers. Blending into the crowded sidewalks of Kabukicho, the Avengers moved without attracting unwanted eyes.
"Mr. Stark, are you sure we can track him down here?" Scott Lang asked, unable to contain his excitement at walking beside actual superheroes, even if the mission baffled him. "Finding one average-looking guy in a crowd this dense feels like searching for a needle in an ocean, let alone a haystack."
"Who said we came here to search for him?" Tony chuckled, stopping in front of a sprawling, multi-story venue. "Besides, this Kabukicho establishment looks promising. Though, Natasha... I don't think they cater to ladies."
Natasha Romanoff offered Tony a brilliant, unimpressed eye-roll before walking straight toward the entrance.
Two imposing bouncers in dark suits and night-tinted sunglasses immediately stepped forward, their hands folded respectfully. "Madam, my apologies," the lead security guard said smoothly, his polite tone contrasting sharply with his heavy Yakuza aura. "Our establishment caters exclusively to male patrons. There are several high-end shopping centers down the avenue. If you prefer, I can arrange an escort."
Before Natasha could respond, Tony stepped up and pulled out a signed Stark Industries check, handing it directly to the guard. "I'm buying out the venue for the night. Now, call your boss out here."
The sheer astronomical figure on the check left the guard speechless. In a world accustomed to seeing Iron Man suit up against alien threats, people often forgot his most formidable power: he was the wealthiest man in New York, commanding an energy empire far more lucrative than his former weapons division.
Within minutes, black-suited guards systematically and respectfully cleared out the club's patrons. Soon, only the Avengers remained in the vast lounge.
"So this is 'money-power,'" Scott muttered, shaking his head in sheer envy as he watched Tony casually pop open a bottle of vintage wine. "Super-solvents and high-tech suits have nothing on a blank check."
Their relaxation was brief. The front doors clicked open, and a young man in a long black trench coat lined with a vibrant Ukiyo-e pattern stepped into the room. At his entry, every guard in the hall instantly bowed ninety degrees in absolute silence.
The newcomer raised a single hand, halting their formal greeting, and walked deliberately toward the center table. His expression was cool, precise, and completely unreadable.
"I am Chisei Gen," he stated plainly, his eyes sweeping over the group. "Members of the Avengers... to what do I owe this disruptive visit?"
His tone left zero room for pleasantries, practically radiating an unspoken you are not welcome here.
Tony tapped his smart-watch, projecting a floating holographic image of the Japanese buyer. "We're looking for this man, Mr. Gen. We require your local network."
The arrogant demand caused the burly guards behind Chisei Gen to subtly shift their weight, their hands reaching under their coats as the atmospheric tension spiked.
Chisei Gen glanced at the projection for half a second. "He is not one of my people. Nor do I hold any obligation to assist S.H.I.E.L.D."
Despite Tony's deliberate provocation, Chisei Gen's pulse didn't even spike. 'He didn't take the bait,' Tony realized with a slight inward sigh. Plan A—instigating a brief brawl to pressure the local underworld boss into cooperation—had failed against the young man's iron self-control.
Smoothly pivoting to Plan B, Natasha stood up with a warm, disarming smile.
"Pardon my colleague, Mr. Gen," Natasha said softly, gesturing toward an empty leather seat. "Tony's a bit frayed from recent events. We simply wish to consult your intelligence network to track this buyer. Please, sit. Let's talk."
Knowing that refusing the Avengers outright would only prolong their high-profile presence in his territory, Chisei Gen took the offered seat, preparing to listen to the spy's terms so he could rid his city of these dangerous foreign "plagues" as quickly as possible.
