Chapter 354 - NUCT: Chapter 354

Reverse Technique — Healing

Shinji tried to treat her using this method.

But to his surprise, the eggshell seemed to possess a very special property — it actually blocked his Cursed Energy!

It wasn't that he couldn't force his way through.

However, as he steadily increased the output of his power, trying to break through the barrier, he noticed cracks rapidly spreading across the shell. The aura of decay grew heavier, and a distinct sense of death began to emanate from it.

He knew that if he kept going, whether he could save her or not was uncertain — but the egg itself would definitely shatter first.

Shinji didn't know exactly what state the interior was in. But based on basic logic, if this egg was meant to be a protective measure, forcibly breaking it from the outside would lead to a terrible outcome.

For all he knew, Moxi wouldn't die from her injuries — she would die by his hand.

To be honest, this egg right in front of him was essentially a massive amount of Cursed Spirit Points just waiting to be claimed.

And if he broke it open, there was a chance he could even obtain the eyes of a Special Grade Cursed Spirit.

He hesitated for a moment… but in the end, he chose not to do it.

"Still no luck?"

Seeing Shinji pull his hand back with a heavy, grim expression, Fubuki Yukime's face fell into deep disappointment.

It seemed her last hope was fading away.

I'm sorry… I did everything I could, she silently told Moxi in her heart.

"In her current state, there is nothing more I can do to heal her," Shinji said. "However… if she is willing, I can give her a way to live on in another form. But doing this will cost me a great deal. And if her remaining consciousness resists, the chance of failure is very high. So I need to know: can she still hear us? Does she still have any awareness left? And is she willing to return to life, even if it means giving up some of her freedom?"

As he spoke, Shinji thought about his Cursed Spirit Master Ball and his Blank Cursed Spirit Fusion Card.

If this succeeded, he would undoubtedly gain an incredibly powerful ally.

If it failed… it would mean she had made her choice. In that case, he would grant her peace — and at least recover his losses.

This was the best solution he could come up with for now.

Although he had come to see Moxi as different from other Cursed Spirits, he wasn't about to risk everything he had just to save her.

After all — why should he?

He was already showing great restraint by not taking advantage of her weakness.

Fubuki Yukime saw hope return. If it were up to her, she would agree to the deal immediately on Moxi's behalf — because staying alive was what mattered most.

But in the end, though her lips moved, she said nothing. She didn't have the right to make that decision for her.

"I don't know for sure… but I think she might be able to hear us. I remember last time, Moxi told me that when she maintains this egg form, she can choose to remain fully conscious… or she can fall into a deep sleep."

When conscious, she could fight back with everything she had until the very end.

When asleep, her body and Cursed Energy would recover much faster.

Both had their advantages.

But there was no way to know which state she was in right now.

"Then I'm afraid I cannot proceed," Shinji said firmly. "Unless she gives me an answer, I won't waste such valuable resources on an egg. You cannot afford the cost of this — and neither can I."

Fubuki Yukime fell silent for a moment. She sat down beside the bed and gently stroked the shell.

"I have done everything within my power. I am so grateful to you… and now, it is time for you to decide. If you survive… I promise I will be your first human friend. I swear it."

The egg remained completely still.

Yukime smiled softly, with a sense of relief. Even though the outcome wasn't perfect, she truly had given everything she had.

"I'm sorry… it seems you have come all this way for nothing."

---

The moment she finished speaking and apologized… the egg, which had shown no sign of life at all, suddenly trembled slightly.

Then, the complex, mysterious runes covering its surface began to shift, break apart, and rearrange themselves — until finally, they formed a single character: LIVE.

"Look! Look at that!"

"Live… it means she wants to live!"

Fubuki Yukime was overwhelmed with excitement.

Shinji nodded, confirming that he had seen it too.

"Since you can still hear me, then it's simple. No matter what happens next… remember only one thing. Do not resist. Please, I beg you — do not fight back. It will be better for both of us if you don't."

The runes on the shell shifted again, as if trying to form another message. But Moxi was simply too weak. The symbols dissolved and faded away before they could take shape.

And that small effort seemed to drain what little life force she had left. Fragments of the shell began to crumble and fall away like dry biscuit crumbs.

They couldn't wait any longer.

Her existence could dissolve at any moment.

Shinji's eyes sharpened. He made up his mind without hesitation. He took out a Cursed Spirit Master Ball and tossed it gently onto the bed.

Detecting a Cursed Spirit that could be captured, the device activated instantly.

Whoosh!

A beam of light shot out, enveloped the egg, and pulled it inside the ball.

Perhaps because she clearly knew she was dying, Moxi suppressed her instinct to fight back and allowed herself to be captured.

Even so, the red indicator light on the ball flashed violently for a long time before finally turning off.

Step one: Success!

Yes!

Shinji couldn't help feeling a surge of excitement inside.

Having a Special Grade Cursed Spirit as an ally wasn't just a simple case of 1 + 1 = 2 — it was a massive gain in power.

But the hardest part was still to come.

He took out the Blank Cursed Spirit Fusion Card. He hesitated for a moment. If this step failed, not only would he lose two extremely valuable items, but Moxi would vanish along with them.

He would lose everything — down to his very last coin!

With tens of thousands of Cursed Spirit Points and such rare items at stake, he couldn't help but feel nervous and anxious about the outcome.

"I hope you won't disappoint me. If this fails… not only will you die, but I think I might lose my mind too."

Whether Moxi inside the Master Ball could hear him or not, Shinji gritted his teeth and brought the card together with the ball.

A blinding white light flared up instantly.

Shinji stood perfectly still, staring intently into the brightness.

Everyone else in the room watched with a mix of tension and curiosity.

Especially Tobi. After waiting for so long, he felt he was finally about to witness the secret of Cursed Spirit Fusion.

But what is that thing that looks like a toy ball?

A sealing artifact?

Like the containers used to seal Tailed Beasts?

Tobi's eyes darted back and forth, full of wonder — the kind of look that says: I don't understand what I'm seeing… but I am absolutely amazed.

In his mind, he guessed that this was likely some kind of auxiliary technology Shinji had developed.

By sealing it within himself, Shinji achieved an effect similar to that of a Jinchuriki — a human host.

Only instead of a Tailed Beast… it was a Cursed Spirit.

While Tobi was lost in his theories and guesses, the brilliant white light slowly began to fade…
