March 2nd
It was a bright Sunday morning. The sun cast it's warm glow upon all and the birds chirped.
Kelechi was very excited today.
It was his very first wedding -well one that he was full aware of - and he was to serve as one of the ring bearers.
His cousin Chika from his mother's side was also a ring bearer and due to their aunt who was the one getting married wanting a fair situation-she liked the two children too much to break their poor hearts- she decided along with her soon to be husband to allow both to carry one ring each during the ring exchange.
It was a very fair arrangement to all.
Kelechi was already dressed in a sharp black suit that suited his childish frame an highlighted his cute face.
Chioma his mother who helped him put the suit on looked down at him beaming with unconcealed pride and could already picture her boy all grown up.
She was already dressed in a light blue gown that clung to her in a moderate yet beautiful manner,he wore light blue heels as well with her hair in plaited braids that was held back in in a well styled bun by a stylish pin.
"We should hurry up. We're almost late for the morning service." Chikodi said as he walked into the room wearing a similar black suit like his son though it looked more gray than black accompanied with dark brown shoes and he just recently had a haircut.
Chioma smiled in satisfaction while looking at both husband and son already planning on showing them both off.
"We're almost done honey, just a few more minutes." She responded calmly while bending down to lightly adjust Kelechi's suit jacket.
"Alright then." Chikodi said with a sigh then turned around and went back out.
Some minutes later...
Chikodi was seen locking their gate from outside before cross checking once and then turning around to enter the parked Nissan that was outside with his beautiful wife and son inside.
And off they went.
They finally reached the church front gate and after a brief greeting with a fair and thin elderly looking security guard they entered inside.
They arrived at the ending of the late morning mass to which the father grumbled at in a low voice.
Chioma didn't say anything because she knew that he needed to vent.
After the late morning mass the wedding preparations were already underway. The decorations team were already moving since the early hours of the morning and had already placed many decorations in various places of the designated area of the church.
Many worshippers saw this but didn't complain, they just looked on with curiosity and whispered amongst themselves.
Some people even stayed back after the late morning mass was over.
Saint Elvis Catholic Church is a large religious construction with considerable height and milky white walls.
This also has a sprawling piece of land around it where large amount of cars can be parked properly without signs of congestion.
All in all the church was a marvelous place.
Mr Obinna Chukukere the husband to be an fiance of Kelechi's aunt Miss-soon to be Mrs Chisimdiri Chukukere were both active members of the church and it was even through on of the church's many outreach programs that they met properly.
Mr Obinna is a lanky man with fair skin and average features. He wore medicated glasses that blended well with his black suit and made him look sharp and driven.
Miss Chisimdiri is a beautiful chocolate skinned lady with soft beautiful features and a dazzling smile on her face that seemed to make her milky white dress even more beautiful on her.
The ceremony soon began with Kelechi being led by his mother to where they were to wait while his father sat down comfortably on his seat before chatting casually with another man his side.
Kelechi's mother lead him into a room where the bride who was being made up by two women in native ankara one holding up tools to give the other who was calling orders and doing the main work.
Nkiru his aunt's mother and his grandmother younger sister was busy fussing over Chika, who was made up just a little nothing much and dressed prettily in a in a beautiful white princess child gown.
Nkiru was dressed in a beautiful light yellow native gown. Her black hair styled in a neat bun and elderly face that showed clear signs of a beauty that aged well with time.
She lit up the moment they entered the room and rushed over to them after a few hushed instructions to one of the elderly women near her.
"Aunty a wonderful afternoon to you." Chioma said with a warm smile on her face after the both hugged.
"Same here nwam." Nkitu replied with an equally warm smile. Then she looked down at Kelechi.
"Now..." She said bending down slightly with her hands on her hips as she stared at Kelechi with a smile on her face,"who is this handsome young man?"
"Mma Nkitu, it's me Kelechi." He said excitedly, looking up at her with a smile on his face.
"Oh my, Kelechi! Wow,you have grown so big already." She said exclaiming a bit,her hands now pinching his cheeks softly before gently rubbing his head.
Kelechi laughed.
Minutes later he was escorted over to where Chika sat and more elderly women started complimenting and fussing over him.
He was soon overwhelmed but couldn't find a place to complain nor could he escape.
Chioma laughed lightly at his predicament.
It was only after the stylists were done with the bride, she was now finally free to talk.
Chisimdiri immediately rushed towards Chioma and gave her a tight hug while avoiding her make up being smugged.
"You look wonderful Simdi." Chioma said after they separated giving her cousin a thorough once-over.
"Thank you. I feel wonderful Sister Oma." She responded happiness radiating from her entirely.
