Her sharp gaze darted back and forth between Suzy and Adam.
"Why are you out here?" Adam took the initiative to ask.
Rina ignored his question, stepping aggressively between Adam and Suzy, scrutinizing her with hostile eyes.
"Who are you?"
Suzy met her glare silently.
Adam started to open his mouth to explain, but Suzy cut him off with a warning look, prompting him to close his mouth.
The three stood in a tense, silent standoff.
Adam reached out to touch Rina's shoulder to calm her down, but she brushed his hand off sharply.
Adam knitted his brows. "Rina, she just picked up something I lost and came to return it."
"Is that so?" Rina retorted, her expression dripping with disbelief.
She hadn't forgotten Suzy. Back at the Mission Hall, she had noticed the way this woman was staring at Adam. More importantly, she had finally pieced it together!
The locket Adam carried with him contained a photo of this exact woman—no wonder she had felt Suzy looked so familiar.
