Mark nodded. "According to her, that seems to be the case."
Suzy's expression instantly grew heavy. "Do you think... it's the same in other places? That these barriers will keep appearing every once in a while? We just don't know if there are monsters inside..."
"There are," Mark said with absolute certainty.
"Why are you so sure?" Suzy asked.
Mark replied, "She said that every time the black mist appears, people get injured—and those injured are the elite forces of the base."
Either the monsters inside the black mist were unimaginably powerful, or new monsters would keep spawning even if the previous ones were killed.
Mark leaned toward the latter.
It wasn't as if they hadn't faced those monsters before; their weak spot was the head, and they weren't terrifyingly invincible.
Still, that was merely his speculation; perhaps the monsters near this base really were absurdly strong.
