She looked at the museum behind her. "We made decisions based on what we heard. Traded for EMP blockers before the EMP. Started reinforcing before the scavengers got organized. When the mutants came we knew what they were before most people in this valley did because Ben had already told us." She looked at Shane with the quality of someone who has been wanting to say something for a long time and is now saying it. "Thank you," she said. "For the broadcasts. Both of you." Shane looked at the museum, at the intact glass of it in the spring light. "You did the work," he said. "We just told you what was coming." June looked at him. "Knowing what's coming," she said, "is everything."
