[CAIUS POV]
My face flushed as Iris's words removed all pretense from the situation. I clenched my fists and sucked in a deep breath.
While Iris did ruin my wedding, she was only the straw that broke the camel's back. I was angrier at myself for letting things get to that point to begin with.
Why hadn't I forced Yvette to open the door so I could see Iris for myself when I felt the first echo of her pain? Why didn't I force Healer Felix to bring Iris to the infirmary when she was barely lucid, instead of depositing her in the venue?
So many stupid decisions, and I only had myself to blame.
Even if Yvette had made bad decisions, it was my responsibility to fix them. I was the next Alpha. I was also Iris's and Yvette's fated mate. I had to do better.
"That won't happen again," I said. "I will speak to Yvette about this―"
