Chu Yao didn't move. A moment later, Lu Xize turned and placed the seared steak on a plate. He looked up, and his gaze met hers.
The corners of Lu Xize's mouth lifted slightly. "Hungry?"
Chu Yao shook her head and walked over to his side in just a few steps.
"Go wait outside. It's getting smoky in here."
Chu Yao didn't budge. Lu Xize watched her for a couple of seconds, but didn't insist.
Cheese-baked lobster, pan-seared sirloin steak, paired with cream of mushroom soup and a green salad.
As everything was brought to the table, set alongside a white, European-style candelabra, it finally dawned on Chu Yao. 'So, this is going to be a candlelight dinner?'
Just as she was thinking this, the lights in the dining room suddenly dimmed. Chu Yao instinctively looked up and saw the reflection in the window of the man standing behind her.
