"Hey! Gentle, you leaving?" someone asked, feigning a joke, but his eyes were filled with chilling mockery.
Gentle's body trembled instantly. She bit her lip, her face pale as she shook her head.
"Why aren't you talking? She's being kind enough to offer to take you out of here to a better life!"
Wen Ying didn't interject. If the woman wanted to go, she wouldn't mind taking her.
But if the woman herself wasn't willing, Wen Ying wasn't about to play the part of a Holy Mother.
Seeing Wen Ying still staring at her, the woman summoned her courage and looked back with a flicker of anger. "Who asked you to meddle? I'm fine here! Everyone treats me well. You want me to follow you out just to get myself killed?"
