"Sigh, what kind of deep-seated hatred could there be between that father and son? If you ask me, the young master is just being thoughtless. The old master is so old, yet he still insists on going against him."
Mrs. Sawyer walked to the kitchen doorway. Hearing a few of the cooks whispering, she couldn't help but cough lightly.
The cooks heard Mrs. Sawyer's voice and jumped in fright.
Seeing it was Mrs. Sawyer, they breathed a sigh of relief.
"You scared us to death! We were wondering who it was."
Mrs. Sawyer stepped forward and huffed irritably.
"And you call yourselves veterans of the Sullivan Estate? How dare you gossip about the masters and spread rumors? Are you tired of working here?"
Those cooks were also old-timers at the Sullivan family's ancestral home. They had started working for the Sullivans when they were young and had been here their whole lives. The women chuckled, pulled Mrs. Sawyer over to a chair, and brought her a plate of fruit.
