Miles Sherman yanked Zoe Pierce back, his voice rising again. "Zoe! It's time to go."
Beams of light and mechas lit up the sky as if it were dawn. The sound of cannon fire was so heavy it made one's ears ring, to the point where it was almost impossible to hear anything.
Zoe Pierce was practically snapped back to her senses by Miles Sherman.
Her eyes still reflected the image of Shannon Stone running forward, her figure shrinking until it vanished from sight.
"Let's go," she said loudly once she came to. Her eyes still flickered with emotion.
"Deploy the mechas. Let's get out of here first." Seeing Zoe return to normal, Miles relaxed. The way Zoe had been staring at Shannon Stone's back had been unsettling; he had no idea what she was thinking.
With no one else around, Zoe Pierce deployed her mecha. With a light leap, she slipped inside.
Once inside his mecha, Miles's frayed nerves began to settle.
But soon after, an urgent call came through.
