Julian Chambers stood waiting, bored stiff. He periodically checked the time on his Intelligent Brain. He still had another fifteen minutes before he was supposed to meet Nathan Lockwood.
Soon, he sensed a commotion nearby. He looked up and, sure enough, it was Zoe Pierce and her group.
A group like theirs was an instant focal point in any crowd.
Julian Chambers adjusted the sunglasses on his face, giving their outfits a once-over. As they approached, he said, "Those clothes won't do. Who goes on vacation dressed like that?"
'Even if they have ulterior motives, showing up in outfits you could pilot a Mecha in is a bit too on the nose, don't you think?'
Nathan Lockwood said, "We'll buy some on Planet B36."
That was one way to do it. Julian Chambers shrugged. He then saw Nathan Lockwood tap a few times on his Intelligent Brain. Julian heard a system notification—half of his agreed-upon guide fee had just been deposited.
