The prospect of Zoe Pierce choosing Miles Sherman right in front of him was somehow even more galling than the current knowledge that it *was* Miles.
To Aaron Xavier, the latter was much harder to accept.
Nathan Lockwood had considered that possibility, too. All he could say was that Aaron Xavier was right—the latter scenario was indeed more heart-sinking than the former.
Turning around, Aaron Xavier propped his head in his hands and looked at Nathan Lockwood. "Nathan, what are you going to do?"
He couldn't think of a solution himself, so he had come to ask Nathan Lockwood. His mind was a tangled mess, all balled up, with no loose thread to start unraveling.
"Are you going to ask her?" He was a bit curious. Nathan had just been advising him against it, and now Aaron was starting to feel apathetic, thinking there really wasn't anything worth asking.
