Aaron felt his skin crawl under that stare, and his brows furrowed sharply. "Don't look at me like that. I know you're up to no good."
'This scheming guy is definitely up to no good.'
Nathan Lockwood didn't state his purpose directly. Instead, he asked, "Where did the other three go?"
The topic didn't seem to have anything to do with scheming, so Aaron pointed. "Zoe said she wanted to wash her hands. There's a lake over there, so Miles and Chase went with her. Figured they'd get their soothing done at the same time."
Nathan rested his chin on his hand and said suddenly, "Aaron, you haven't noticed that the three of them have a secret, have you?"
Aaron, who was in the middle of a stretch, suddenly froze and glanced at Nathan.
He wasn't smiling. The firelight flickered in his dark eyes, reflecting the dancing flames.
"What secret?" Aaron asked.
From his perspective, everything seemed perfectly normal.
That went for both Miles and Chase.
