It seemed Zoe Pierce thought the problem was her, not Miles Sherman.
Chase Shaw felt there was a fundamental misunderstanding between them, but Zoe Pierce seemed completely unaware.
"There's nothing going on between Miles Sherman and me, really." The more Zoe Pierce explained, the stranger Chase Shaw found it.
He couldn't quite grasp Zoe Pierce's way of thinking yet, but watching her try so hard to explain herself, his tightly knit brow relaxed slightly.
"Chase Shaw, that's enough." Miles Sherman came up from behind and grabbed his arm.
Chase Shaw glanced down at the hand Miles Sherman was holding, then raised his arm and shook it free. "Zoe Pierce, why do you think Miles was the one at a disadvantage?"
It took him a moment, but he finally latched onto the main point.
She was the Omega. Why would she think Miles was the one who got the short end of the stick from the marking?
The focus of her emotions was off.
So was the target of her apology.
Zoe Pierce froze.
