Miles Sherman didn't refuse. Robots within the base could deliver to the dorms, but they couldn't handle orders from the food street outside.
The furthest they could deliver was the base entrance, so someone still had to go out and pick it up.
So it was a job someone had to do in person.
'It's on the way. I can go buy it after helping Zoe Pierce with her problem.' Miles Sherman looked at the two of them and said calmly, "Alright, you two head back first."
Aaron Xavier and Chase Shaw didn't think much of it and headed back to their room.
Having been delayed, Miles Sherman glanced at his watch and quickened his pace.
He had just reached the artificial garden when he stopped in his tracks.
The artificial garden was no longer a novel sight for the others on the base. Most people only visited during the day to see the greenery. At night, only a few scattered lamps were lit, draping the garden in a soft, hazy veil of light.
And there, a figure stood beneath a tree.
