The last two days had been anything but easy for Shen Qing.
She couldn't have gotten far in a mere quarter of an hour. In fact, she hadn't run at all.
She used that quarter of an hour to fake a trail of footprints leading away to her left, then carefully retraced her steps through the grass. Finding the tallest, most densely-leafed tree, she had nimbly climbed it.
She knew perfectly well that she was taking a gamble. If Mu Ren was rational and composed enough to see through her little trick of hiding right under his nose, her location would be instantly exposed.
But perhaps even the heavens were on her side. Mu Ren never imagined that the person he was desperate to capture and maim was right under his nose. He just blindly sent his men to search the surrounding area.
Even more fortunately, Shen Qing had found a hollow in the massive tree, just large enough for her to wedge herself into, with dense leaves providing cover.
