DONG DONG DONG...
The rusty old gong hanging at the school gate was finally struck. Immediately, swarms of students burst out of the classrooms, chasing each other and roughhousing wildly across the campus.
Xiao Furen emerged from the small grove of trees and headed for his classroom. The younger grades' classrooms were even more chaotic than the older ones, the shouts and screams inside rivaling a wet market. As a result, only a few people noticed when Xiao Furen walked in.
Li Xue, sitting in the front row, looked up and saw Xiao Furen walk in. She was about to speak but then remembered she wasn't a class officer anymore—the teacher had stripped her of the position right before class. She shot him a resentful glare before lowering her head and focusing on her own work.
The class president, sitting further back, also saw him come in and asked dutifully, "Xiao Furen, why are you so late?"
