The next morning, a blissfully unaware Xin Huohuo didn't get up until nine. The tour group was scheduled to meet in the hotel lobby at ten to depart, so for a moment, she thought she had overslept.
"Why didn't you wake me?" Xin Huohuo asked Miss Lei, who was sitting on the sofa reading a newspaper, her tone half-pouting and half-complaining.
Few people read newspapers these days; everyone just browsed the news on their phones.
"You were sleeping so soundly, you looked so peaceful," Miss Lei said with a warm smile, pointing to the table. "I brought breakfast back for you. Go get washed up, there's plenty of time."
Xin Huohuo had eaten a late-night snack before bed, so she wasn't hungry. But a look at the breakfast revealed it was just eggs, bread, and milk, with an apple on the side.
