The police had a perfectly logical reason for showing up at her door.
Because Fu Baoying's daughter had returned safely.
A little girl, missing and held captive for two days, comes home without a scratch?
Who would believe that?
Considering what happened last night, Fu Baoying was a prime suspect.
The officer looked at Fu Baoying meaningfully and asked with concern, "Miss Fu, we heard your daughter has been found?"
"Yes, she's back."
Fu Baoying replied without expression, "Thank you for your hard work these past two days, officers. I'm sorry for the trouble."
"Not at all, Miss Fu."
The policeman said, "May we ask how your daughter returned?"
"She came back on her own."
Fu Baoying answered without a hint of hesitation, "Early this morning, my daughter just appeared in the yard. I suppose the kidnappers had a change of heart and brought her back."
"Miss Fu, we hope you'll tell us the truth."
"I am telling the truth. Believe it or not."
