Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Goblin Grunt

"Lin Ye.

"Qi and Blood index at 10.8, Life index at 9.6, punch force at 216 kilograms.

"Next!"

Lin Ye stepped down from the Force Tester and let out a long exhale, his face showing neither sorrow nor joy. It was exactly the result he had expected.

Over a century ago, the very first Celestial Abyss had opened, plunging the entire world into a cataclysmic upheaval. The starry skies brought the Alien Race. The Human Race's mightiest experts fought back for decades. Although the threat of the Celestial Abyss and the Alien Race persisted to this day, the ultimate powerhouses of the Human Race could now traverse galaxies and split the heavens with a single punch. As a result, almost everyone fought tooth and nail for a chance to become a Martial Artist.

Lin Ye, however, harbored no such ambitions. As a transmigrator from Blue Star, he deeply understood the value of life; he wanted to avoid all this fighting and killing at all costs. Since his aptitude was merely average, his goal was simple: get accepted into a decent Martial University. After graduation, he would apply to be a security guard at a high-end residential complex, effectively bypassing decades of the rat race. Earning a monthly salary of over ten thousand, eating well, and living comfortably—that would be more than enough.

Given his current scores, there was a high probability he could achieve this modest goal. But just as Lin Ye prepared to return to his place in line and continue the routine afternoon training, a voice—existing solely within his mind—rang out abruptly.

[DING!]

[Retrieving the host's current world...]

[World confirmed!]

[Extracting system model...]

[Extraction complete!]

[The Strongest Dungeon Boss System has been activated!]

[This system is dedicated to cultivating the host into the most powerful dungeon boss in this world, making all adventurers tremble beneath your majestic glory!]

[Conducting host race appraisal...]

[BEEP—Appraisal complete.]

[Host Race: Goblin (Soldiers)]

Lin Ye was filled with question marks. He patted himself down. His nose bridge was normal and didn't protrude, nor were his ears pointy. His skin was smooth, entirely devoid of any green hue. He was 1.7 meters tall, not 1.1 meters.

"Who the hell are you calling a Goblin?" he muttered.

[Based on a comprehensive assessment of all your current Attribute Values, the host perfectly matches the parameters of Goblin Soldiers.]

[Evaluation: Weak, pitiful, and helpless. Usually appearing in swarms, they are a novice adventurer's favorite target for grinding levels.]

[Threat Level: Negligible.]

[The host need not feel inferior. Greatness comes from humble beginnings; even a Goblin has the potential to become a Demon Lord capable of the Destruction of the World.]

[Please abandon all unrealistic fantasies, face your true race, and prepare to fight for survival and evolution!]

[This system will undoubtedly turn the host into the strongest boss in this world—one that will never be conquered by adventurers!]

Lin Ye was utterly speechless.

[Novice Quest Issued: Familiarize yourself with your status panel and Skills.]

[Quest Reward: Max HP +10. Mechanism Added: Healing out of combat.]

[Failure Penalty: Wu.]

[Remark: This is a tutorial quest designed to help the host get accustomed to their Power as quickly as possible. Discard the foolish delusion that you are a human.]

Lin Ye's eyelid twitched. Ultimately unable to resist his curiosity, he sank his consciousness into his mind, and a holographic screen resembling a video game interface unfolded before his eyes.

[Host: Lin Ye]

[Race: Goblin]

[Level: Level 1]

[Life Value: 100/100]

[Energy Value: 19/50]

[Physical Strength Value: 31/100]

[Boss Mechanism: Wu]

[Current Phase: P1, other phases locked]

[Power: 11]

[Agility: 9.8]

[Endurance: 10]

[Spirit: 5]

Continuing downward, Lin Ye's gaze landed on the most crucial section: the "Skill Tree."

Most entry-level Martial Artists like Lin Ye started with Basic Fist Techniques. Once mastered, they could study High-tier unarmed martial arts. Alternatively, they could select a suitable weapon and delve deeply into its corresponding weapon techniques.

His skill tree, however, had a highly unusual aesthetic, exuding a heavy online gaming vibe.

[P1 Phase]

Unlocked Skills: [Normal Attack: Swing your fists (or weapon) to execute an entirely unskillful attack, dealing 100% damage.]

[Skill Consumption: Wu]

[Skill Cooldown: Wu]

[Remark: This is a boss's most basic and frequently used skill.]

[Thick Hide (Passive), locked.]

Just as Lin Ye was studying his interface, a frantic alarm suddenly blared.

[WARNING! WARNING! High-Level adventurer detected approaching!]

[Adventurer Name: Chen Meng]

[Level: Level 37]

[Threat Assessment: Extremely Lethal! Survival probability below 1%!]

[Combat Advice: RUN!]

Lin Ye looked up just in time to see his homeroom teacher, Chen Meng, clap his hands to conclude the class's mock exam and walk toward him. His heart tightened. It wasn't that he was afraid of his teacher, but right now, an incredibly conspicuous, blood-red "Level 37" marker hovered above Chen Meng's head. It gave Lin Ye a tangible sense of oppression.

Scanning the room, Lin Ye realized that apart from Chen Meng—a genuine Martial Artist—the rest of his classmates were practically all Level 1, just like him. Only a few top-tier students had a Level 2 marker hovering over them. Regardless of whether this unhinged system could actually help him grow stronger, simply having the ability to determine a person's strength at a single glance was incredibly valuable in this Gao Wu Era surrounded by the Alien Race.

[DING! Novice Quest Complete!]

[You have received HP +10!]

[You have acquired a new mechanism: Healing out of combat!]

[Healing out of combat (White): After leaving combat, your Life Value, Energy Value, and Physical Strength Value will rapidly regenerate at a rate of 10% per second.]

[Remark: Leash it, jump off a cliff, go next!]

Lin Ye was stunned. He was all too familiar with this mechanic. It reminded him of his past life in college, spending days and nights raiding with his guild. When a boss was leashed out of combat, it naturally regenerated its health at a blistering pace. This mechanic was also extremely common in other games; for instance, pulling a jungle mob too far would cause it to reset and rapidly heal.

He never expected to acquire this ability himself.

Lin Ye opened his status panel. The status bar glaringly read: [Non-combat state, rapidly recovering!]

After a whole morning of cultivation and physical drills, Lin Ye had felt utterly exhausted. But right now, he could clearly feel his fatigue vanishing at the speed of light, his energy and physical strength returning rapidly.

He drew in a sharp breath. With this mechanic, didn't that make him a perpetual training machine? Since no one was actively fighting him, he was perpetually in an out-of-combat state.

"Lin Ye, think it over."

"Ah?" Lin Ye snapped back to reality.

Only then did he realize that the massive training room was empty, save for him and his homeroom teacher, Chen Meng.

Chen Meng furrowed his brow and said sternly, "Your choice concerns your entire future. Are you even listening to me?

"The city has just received the new documents issued by the Great Xia Martial Artist Alliance this year.

"The cut-off scores to qualify for the national unified entrance exam for Martial Universities have been released. The requirements are a Qi and Blood index of 13, a punch force of 350 kilograms, and a Life index of 10.5 or higher.

"You currently do not meet these standards. Furthermore, it's less than two weeks until the next school-wide mock exam, where we finalize and submit the list of candidates. Given your current Qi and Blood index, my advice is that you switch tracks early. Either apply for the Mechanized Martial Arts track, or simply drop out of the martial arts program altogether. Your grades in the academic track have always been quite good."
