Since most of Meituan's delivery riders were part-timers, there were too many workers for too few orders. During a typical lunch rush, a rider could often only deliver three or four orders.
People were out to make money, not to live on air.
After familiarizing themselves with the routes around nearby residential and commercial areas, some Meituan riders jumped ship to Kuai Pao Delivery without a second thought.
