Night fell.
Feiyan was already leading Xijing out of the inner city when it finally dawned on him.
'That black-hearted Jin Ling! With both me and Xijing gone, isn't he the only one left to be with Xixi tonight?!'
"I fell for Jin Ling's trick."
Feiyan slapped his thigh in frustration. He knew Jin Ling's words during dinner had been strange—so this is what he was waiting for!
After speaking, Feiyan saw that Xijing wasn't reacting and nudged him. "What are you thinking about?"
Xijing had been sniffing the lingering scent of blood on his fingertips.
"It's been a long time since you and Jin Ling have seen Xixi, and she misses you both very much. You should go keep her company. Go on back. I'll just get familiar with the situation with the patrol beastmen."
The look Feiyan gave Xijing softened ever so slightly. "You have a point. I can't waste this beautiful night on you, after all."
