Feiyan's fists clenched, but the words on the tip of his tongue just wouldn't come out.

She picked up a stone pot and poured him a bowl of sweet water. "Here, drink this. It'll tide you over." With that, she turned and walked over to the stove to help Jin Ling.
Feiyan stared at her back. Just as his fists began to relax, two small hands reached out and gradually enveloped his own, seeming to infuse him with an invisible strength.

Qiao Qiao and Qiao Ang stared up at him, their large, clear eyes instantly shattering his mounting hesitation. He abruptly shot to his feet and yelled at Qiao Xixi's back.

The stone bowl in Qiao Xixi's hands nearly slipped, but Jin Ling, with his quick reflexes, steadied her arm.
