Heath Hale shone his flashlight into the pit before him. Once he saw what was inside, even Heath, who was used to all sorts of gruesome crime scenes and dead bodies, couldn't help but feel a wave of nausea.
Evan Keller and the others gathered around. Inside the pit, neatly placed, was a woman's severed head. Her eyes were wide open in a look of disbelief. Her hair was tidy, styled into two braids.
But from the crookedness of the braids, it was clear the homeless man must have been the one to style her hair.
At the bottom of the pit was also a set of clothes. Judging by the color, they probably belonged to the girl.
Although the skin on the head had already started to turn pale, Heath Hale recognized her at a glance. 'Isn't this the owner of the ID photo from the wallet?!'
The thought that the homeless man would regularly take the head out of the pit to comb its hair and braid it sent a chill down Heath's spine.
