Zoe Sawyer and Sean Hughes, who had been on their way out, stopped in their tracks. They took a few steps back, perked up their ears, and started eavesdropping without any attempt to hide it.
Zoe Sawyer remembered asking Officer Lee about Evan Keller and Lynn Grant's relationship before. He had brushed her off with a few vague words back then. 'Now's my chance to find out!'
Heath Hale reached the doorway before realizing the other two weren't following. He turned around, looked at them, and fell silent.
'Curiosity killed the cat...'
That's what he thought, but his feet had a mind of their own. He and Beau stopped at the door to watch.
Evan Keller saw what the four of them were doing, but he couldn't be bothered with them right now. His eyes were glued to the envelope in front of him.
