Liam Linden reacted in a flash. He grabbed Faye Vaughn and pushed her into the car. "Let's go!"
Faye Vaughn got into the passenger seat. "You haven't finished moving all your things. What are we going to do?"
Liam Linden said decisively, "We can always figure out a way to buy more things. Your safety is what's most important."
He said it without a hint of hesitation, without a second thought.
The situation was urgent. Tiger and his men were already closing in, so he stomped on the gas and sped off, not paying any attention to what he had just blurted out.
Faye Vaughn watched him. Once the van reached the main road and things were relatively safe, she spoke softly, "Do you know what you just said?"
Liam Linden was keeping an eye out for pursuers behind them and replied casually, "What did I say?"
"You said my safety is what's most important—more important than all those things you went to so much trouble to buy."
Liam Linden froze.
'Did I say that?'
