Vincent Hawthorne nonchalantly probed via text, "I remember you said you didn't like my older brother's type."

Faye Vaughn replied, "This has nothing to do with whether I like him. A debt of gratitude must be repaid."

Vincent Hawthorne asked, "Are you two meeting tomorrow night?"

Faye Vaughn confirmed, "Mhm, tomorrow night at eight, in the restaurant at The Elysian Hotel."

Vincent Hawthorne stared at his phone screen, his mood darkening.

'So she wasn't going to refuse to meet his older brother for dinner.'

'No matter how she felt about his older brother right now, if they spent more time together, some kind of romantic feelings were bound to develop.'

'After all, his older brother was the head of the Hawthorne Group—powerful, handsome, and assertive. He was the man countless women dreamed of.'

'He couldn't be sure that Audrey wouldn't be tempted.'
