Suddenly, a familiar, aged voice emerged in his mind, interrupting Mu Chen's thoughts. A dumbfounded look appeared on his face as he asked in disbelief, "Master?"
"Yaaaawn..." The Profound Old Ghost let out a huge yawn and said lazily, "Mm, I accidentally overslept."
At that, the Profound Old Ghost's figure whooshed out of the Extreme Spirit Pearl. He lounged casually on the Spirit Nourishing Couch, giving Mu Chen a satisfied, teasing look. "You didn't really think I sacrificed my soul to save you, did you, kid?"
Mu Chen nodded sheepishly. "Actually, yeah. I did."
The Profound Old Ghost shrugged. "If I had the power, I would have. But I can no longer stop a Nine Venerable Thunder Tribulation of that intensity. Even if I had tried, it would have been pointless."
Mu Chen's composure returned. He frowned. "But I clearly took the hit from the Nine Venerable Thunder Tribulation. Why am I still alive? This isn't right."
