The little bandit raised the blade in his hand. "Get out of my way," he said, "or I'll let you have a taste of being gutted."
Jiao Zhengfeng, standing nearby, quickly swapped places with Lan Ling. This was his moment to step forward.
His eyes were red as he spoke. "Sir, my wife is having a baby. She's really in labor, I'm not tricking you! She's giving birth right now, you really can't go in."
The little bandit spat the blade of grass he was chewing onto Jiao Zhengfeng's face.
"You say so, and I'm supposed to believe you? Why don't you just say *you're* the one giving birth?"
He lifted his gleaming broadsword and rested it on Jiao Zhengfeng's shoulder. "You big oaf, if you know what's good for you, you'll get the hell out of my way. Don't block me from taking care of business."
Fear gripped Jiao Zhengfeng's heart, but he still didn't move aside.
